How Often do you Wash Your Hair?

If your hair is dry, lacks shine, frizzy, or brittle, or if there is hair breakage you may be washing your hair too often. You might use dry shampoo( or spray) to minimize breakage and split ends. If you have oily hair, are active, or have an itchy scalp you may want to wash your hair more often. As you age your scalp produces less oil and may not need to wash your hair as often. Black people or those with thick hair only need to wash their hair every 1-2 weeks. Chemically treated hair may also stretch their washes a bit longer.

They say you should wash your hair every 2-3 days because that way it gets the oils needed to keep your hair healthy. I was mine every few days since I have biracial hair so it's important to let my hair sit for a few days. My hair is normally frizzy after I've washed it. I also let it air dry and don't go to bed with wet hair because it can give you a crick in your neck if you do so.

@celticeagle It is. If you need to heat dry your hair it's best to do it on a low heat because it'll dry out your hair follicles and make them brittle if you do a high heat often. It's fine at a salon because they work with hair daily and will tell you the best way to keep your hair type healthy.

Now it is about twice a week. But in winter it also depends on how cold it is. I might even wait 5 days then.

In the winter months if it gets washed I am happy. Takes alot out of me in the depression months.

These days maybe every 3 days or so. I have little hair now, keep it short, short and only need a tiny drop of Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo.

I washed my hair daily when I was younger. I wash mine 3 times a week now. In the summer sometimes more often.
