I am about to go make my mom's famous Christmas cut-out cookies. Every year at Christmas she used to make them and my brother and I got to decorate them with colored sugar.
When I was in high school I was given the Christmas cookie duty and have been baking them every Christmas ever since. That means about 45 years now!
I love choosing the different shapes I will use: bells, Christmas trees, stockings, snowmen and angels are usually in the running! They are a lot of work because first, you have to make the dough, then refrigerate it for at least an hour, then roll it out, cut it into shapes, put them on the greased cookie sheets, brush egg white on them, and decorate them with colored sugar. But in the end, the taste is worth it.
And making them always reminds me of my mom, who died in 2021 so it's special.
Do you make anything special at Christmas that reminds you of someone in your family?

I know you miss your mom, I'm so sorry. I was thinking about you just the other day and realized we hadn't heard from from you and prayed you were well. The cookies sound so yummy.

These traditions are wonderful. I hope you'll be able to make those biscuits for a great many more years.

My Mom used to make sugar cookies every Christmas to. She decorated them with icing.
