Air Conditioning and Pollution are Making us Fat

It turns out that all that energy we use to heat and cool our houses is energy that we aren't using to heat and cool our bodies, and it's making us fatter...

I think the reason we are getting fatter is because we eat more "junk" or "fatty" foods plus exercise less. In the winter or cooler months people do eat more heavier types of foods and do exercise less, but I don't think that has anything to do with the heating. I don't have air conditioning although we do use fans when it gets really hot. Also we do not turn on the gas heater very often instead tend to rug up a little bit more, but we still eat different foods in winter than in the warmer months.

cute hamster - I ran across this and thought it was cute so I thought I would share.
I think that you are on to something my grand parents used to tell us as kids drink room temperature water and you will stay cooler and if you drink cold stuff in the winter you don't get cold near as fast and they are right I do that I am able to tolerate hot temperature pretty good and cold fairly well so why you sit to stay cool or warm you are not burning calories which leads to obesity so that is how some people end up with excess weight.

My husband actually told me this news this past summer. Nobody believes us when we tell them but hey, who wants to be told they are fat and or what could bee the could. Mind you we never came out and said anyone was fat just the facts about it. I guess the truth hurt. I won't buy an airconditioner now for that reason. I have four children and there health to think about..

That sounds interesting,I think it makes sense and we have to change mode to use energy

I think that makes sense.. in winter we store food as our bodies should be working harder to kepp us warm. I haven't had the heating on yet .. so I'm feeling quite skinny!

Well, that makes sense. Also, if our bodies feel cool ther may be a chemical in our brain that tells us to eat more because winter is coming and the food supply might be less. I don't know, it is just a thought that goes along with what you are saying.
