The finished painting of the boat.

I finished the painting of the boat today.
I went and put my painting stuff out just after lunch.
The first thing I did was paint in the brown areas in the boat and at the bottom of the boat with burnt umber. I used the edge of a palette knife to edge the boat with burnt umber. I went over some of the white areas, so I had to paint the white back in again afterwards.
I added some texture to the sand in the foreground and added some dark shadows in the blue area on the boat. I darkened the shadow area on the white of the boat using a mixture of raw sienna and white.
When the burnt umber in the boat was dry I painted in the lighter area in yellow ochre. I added more burnt umber inbetween the areas where the benches would be.
I painted in the shadow on the left by adding some black to burnt umber. Then I darkened the shadow area at the bottom of the boat with the same colour because I thought it was too light.
I added some white bits on the red part of the boat to represent scratches using the edge of a palette knife
When the burnt umber was dry in the boat, I mixed some black and white together to make grey and painted in the benches in the boat. When that was drying I added some more texture and contrast into the sandy areas.
When the grey benches were dry, I added some detail with white and burnt umber. Then I called it finished.
I went and put it in my bedroom to dry.
I had rather a lot of raw sienna on my peel off palette and I didn't want to waste it, so I started filling in some of the wings on my parrot picture to use it up. When I'd done that I still had a bit of raw sienna left, so I got out one of my small canvases that was in my painting set that I bought myself for Christmas, and I covered it with raw sienna! It will serve as the underpainting for a painting in the future, but exactly what it will be I have yet to decide!
What do you think of my painting of the boat?
I hope you are all having a nice day.

@sharonelton Thanks, I am very kind most of the time... I do really think it looks very realistic though.

I like your finished product. Now, what are you going to do with it? Do you have a special person to give it to or have a special place to put it if you decide to keep it yourself or are you thinking of selling it?

You just need to practise. Go on an art course. If you're not any good at least you'll have fun and you'll meet new friends like I did.

Excellent work, I'm sorry it took me a while getting to it (I have a ton of catching up to do as far as reading here, starting to doubt I'll ever get caught up fully. )

@sharonelton That relaxing, but when I realise that there’s no-one around I start wondering if there was some skulduggery going on, and all the people got killed. Or maybe they’ve got up the beach to buy ice cream. You just never know. Now I’m feeling very uncertain - well done.

It's very good that you're trying to think up a story behind the picture. My thought was that it was just an old boat that had been abandoned. But anyone can make up their own story about the boat.
