It's Been Nice And All But... Can I Leave Yet?

January 8, 2024 5:27pm CST
Hey all! I just thought I would grace everyone with a little something something from my life. I live with five other people in a decently sized house. One of those people is my ex-boyfriend and I have to share a room and a bed... Even though we aren't together. It honestly makes me question every life decision that I made to lead up to this point... Anyways, the other "roommates" are the rest of his family. His sister and her boyfriend, his mom and his grandpa. Now before you ask why I don't just move out, please remember how expensive rent is right now. If rent wasn't the issue trust and believe I would be out of here quicker than it took to write this out. LOL. Have any of you ever been in an awkward living situation with multiple people before? How do you deal with the occasional conflict that comes with that? I would love to hear that someone else has experienced this before so I don't feel so alone.

Oh gosh that is awkward mine isn't as bad but I do have a share of awkward. My landlady these days is making my living situation awkward too because she keeps passive aggressively nit picking on everything every weekend. If she's having a bad time guaranteed she's going to displace it on me. I cannot move out as I am waiting for a new flat purchase which is taking forever but now I have just stopped talking to her completely and avoid her in the common areas.

I lived in a toxic household for nineteen years. I eventually fled for my personal safety. I used to come up with excuses not to, or convince myself the living situation isn't that bad. But, believe me.... I'm better off for it.

Personally speaking, I cannot live with my ex and her family. I hope you can have a new place to live in.

I have shared a small apartment for a while with a cousin of my husband and I did not like that a bit. As soon as our apartment was ready we moved out of that situation.

You have made the right decision to stay because of rent expenses. But it would be better to reconcile in the long run before he gets another girlfriend and kicks you out.
