Different seasons , different foods.

United Kingdom

I am the sort of person who could eat any sort of food during any part of the year, but some people say they would not eat some food during a certain season. My friend is a good example of this because she will not eat curry or any other spicy food during the summer. She says these foods make her feel too hot. I always thought that spicy food helped to cool your body down. But what do I know?

I am the same, if I am in the mood for a certain food I will eat it whatever the season. I have been known to eat a salad in the middle of winter and this would be a no no for some people.

@Phebri Do you live in Finland? Hot meatballs soup sounds nice do you make it from scratch or does it come in a tin?

And you are right, in the hot countries they always consume hot food to lower the body temperature. The reason is simple, spicy food makes you sweat, sweating cools off the skin, that causes the body temperature to go down.

@lazydaizee While it's fine for me to have spicy food on a hot day, I cannot stand a hot drink.

Some people say it is good to have a hot drink on a hot day for the same reason.

@lazydaizee I don't eat ice cream or drink juice during cold seasons and rainy days to avoid sore throat and a cold.

@mildredtabitha Maybe this is why I have just got over having a cold, too much cold food.

I eat different food because I cook more stews, casseroles and legumes in winter than in summer. In summer I eat more salads and omelettes.
