Hubby threw hot water into the air. It froze before it could hit the ground. Actually, a lot of it turned to water vapour, the rest froze. You can find some spectacular videos of this on YouTube.

Oh my gosh that made for such a neat photo. My husband showed me a video of someone doing this and threw it up in the air but it came down and scalded him. He laughed so hard but I felt so bad for the guy . I did snicker a lit later thinking about it though so I can’t fault my husband for laughing.

I wondered if that ever happened. We did it a few times, not too hard to throw it away from you. I wonder if it was cold enough where that person was.

I have seen people breaking an egg and it froze on the way to the dish.

One of my close friends I went to college with now lives in Calgary. He posted a video on Facebook recently where he threw boiling water into the air. It was really cool to see it all vaporize in the air.

@paigea I’m sure I would have fun doing the same thing if I lived up there. A fun thing for us to do in Florida when we have hard freezes is to set out a bowl or pan of water at night to see if it ices over by morning. Lol

Wow. Then the temperature is way too cold for hot water to freeze that quickly.

I think the hot water turns to vapour, then condenses and freezes. But yes, it has to be very cold to work!

The thing that shocked me was that people were doing that in Arizona...not exactly known for cold weather.

Interesting. You'd have to have a good throwing arm so the water didn't come back and hit you instead.
