Personal nostalgia of using the Internet.

I have been using the internet for so many years that I have become quite nostalgic about it ,as I would be about other activities.
I can remember some of the first websites that I used, they include;
Moneybackmadness - The first site I used to make money online.
Valued Opions - My first paid survey site
Squidoo - My first writing site
Bubblews - The first writing site I earned money on
Lush - The first online forum I posted on and the first site I got banned from.
The first site I sold anything on was Ebay when I sold a Poole Pottery plate.
The first competition I won online was an antique picture of a forest. It was only a page taken out of an old book that somebody had coloured in, but the people running the competition were in America and they paid to get my prize sent to me in the UK
I am sure there are even more sites from my early internet days , but these are the ones that I remember most.

Wow. You started making money online a long time. I wish I knew about those sites you mentioned before they disappeared. I have heard good things about bubblews

Bubblews was a very popular writing site. I was on there for a couple of years, they closed down in2015, and I wished I had found them sooner.

I remember when I first went on the internet and every other personal site seemed to have a Princess Diana tribute page on it. It found it very odd and still do.
Before social media became what it is now we used message boards and e-mail groups. How different it all looks now.

@lazydaizee Some of the tribute pages were sad or sweet. Some were a little mawkish and others were really, really "out there" with conspiracy theories about the royals being lizards and such. Wild times!

@KarenAnne Conspiracy theories seem to be more of a thing now we have the internet.

I do not remember seeing a tribute page, I would have found it sad.
I do remember the days before social media when people used forums and message boards. These have mostly all gone now, but sometimes I find one or two when I am looking for an answer to a question about a specific product. Some of these forums and message boards were very fussy because you had to join to be able to read the posts.

Many of us are Bubblews alumnae. So many of the writing sites have closed down. Have a good weekend.

Were you on Bubblews too, how long were you on there?
I was there for a couple of years before they closed and I wish I had found them sooner.

@lazydaizee Yes. Maybe a year or two. I really don't remember. It was good while it lasted.
