Over the last two years, I have been attending painting 'sessions' where we are given a specific painting to replicate. These sessions are with a group of thirty-plus ladies and are facilitated by a young lady with a company called "Sip&Paint"
It started with small groups of interested ladies and is now a booming hobby.
During these evenings we share and care, eat, sip, and paint until we are finished. Trying not to dishonor the original artists in any way, but to use their techniques and apply our best to capture the mood they might have had while busy with their artworks.
The reinterpretation of the beautiful works of Vincent Van Gogh (my absolute favorite artist of all time) started with my sincere attempt at the "SUNFLOWERS"
Vibrant mixtures of warm yellows capture the mood, and using the impasto technique made the painting come alive (metaphorically of course) - knowing that a bunch like these cheery sunflowers in any vase, on any given table would be just amazing, simple, yet stunning.
I felt the outcome of my SUNFLOWERS to be acceptable because it was a calming painting experience that brought forth the painting you get to see today. I gifted my painting to a cancer patient and therefore had to search for my photo thereof on my FB page. Sadly a side view.
You will notice that I sign all my reinterpretations with the letters 'LO' in the lefthand corners.
