Happy Friday Everyone! another day of snow and cold weather.
NO weekend plans because it's anyones guess how much snow will fall. It's getting tiresome having the weekends interrupted by bad weather.
I'm glad I jumped on the yarn when it was on sale so now I have an idea of what I want to make for my next project.
My son in laws niece is having a baby and the gender revel says ...it's a boy!!
How exciting.
Decided to make two baby blankets. One small one that can be used as a receiving or swaddling blanket and another bigger one that will go from infant to toddler. Now I just have to decide what color.
Yesterday afternoon I had a marathon phone call with my friend. She is or has been going through so much and even though I can't solve any of her problems (most of which are money related) all I can offer is a shoulder to cry on. I feel so bad that at her age (75) that she has so many worries. Her husband is 83 yrs old and looking for a job. Tell me that isn't sad.
I suggested she join myLot and not so much that she can earn a little bit of money but just have people to talk to and have some fun. I don't know if she'll join but I really think it would help her.
My day today should be fairly quiet. No big plans but this afternoon I'm going to read my book and we're having an easy chicken stir fry for dinner.
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend or has the weather sabotaged your plans?

@Marilynda1225 - White and blue go well together. I feel sorry for old people who are in need of help.

I like light colors too and will probably go with white and blue.
Yes, my friend is in dire straits. She's distraught and depressed. We live a few hours away from each other so I can't even invite her over for a cup of tea.

That is sad. What book are you reading? If it isn't dreadful tomorrow I am still planning on going out. Today is at home day though.

.I'm reading a book called Dirty Thirty by Janet Evanovich. It's the 30th book in a series and I've read all of them. Her books are funny and lighthearted and quick reading. The same main characters are in all of the books in this series.

@Marilynda1225 it was in the 20s and raining but has stopped now. Yikes on the schools being open with what could turn to very icy roads by the time the kids go home from school.

My friend is a people person so I'm sure she would love it here. I hope she joins.
Are you getting snow? we have freezing rain alternating with rain but our schools are open. I'm hoping the temperatures are high enough to keep the freezing rain from causing any slippery conditions. Hope it doesn't get too bad there.

@shaggin maybe they'll have early dismissal. I only know the schools are open because I can see my neighbors kids walking to the bus stop.

A new baby boy is exciting news! Love that new baby smell, and the feel of their delicate skin.
I just hung up the phone, our son and his family are on their way in the truck, and Willow wanted Nanny, so they Facetimed with me.
No big plans for me until I go see the girls tomorrow after grocery shopping is done and all packed away.
They are going to take them to an arena and see how they manage with skating-I think that they are a bit young for that, but we will see.

@Marilynda1225 Our son is a manager at work, and there was a lady 'grandma age' as he put it, that made 2 baby blankets when the girls were born. When you laid them out you could see that although they were a solid colour, 1 had a pattern of a honey jar and the other had another pattern, which I cannot remember. Our son and his wife didn't notice it at first but her mother spotted it as she crochets and then our daughter-in-law, Klaudia, who also crochets as a beginner, and she could really appreciate the work behind the blankets at that point-moreso than our son did.
I know that our son and his wife love outdoor ice skating, we have several gorgeous outdoor rinks in the city, and I know that they miss doing that in the evenings and that may be the idea behind getting the girls on their little baby skates. They have those skates with 2 blades for them.

@Juliaacv those blankets sound beautiful and intricate with a pattern in them. That lady must be very talented with her knitting/crocheting. I love to crochet but I'm not advanced enough to tackle some very intricate patterns and I admire those who have that ability.
Did the twins get to go skating this weekend?

I miss not having little ones so much. It will be fun making baby blankets and there's a chance I'll be invited to the baby shower. Even if I'm not I feel that it would be nice to give a gift.
Little ones are doing things at earlier ages than I remember but I agree that skating seems a bit adventurous for the girls. Maybe they'll be little Olympic champions

I think it's a good idea for your friend to join myLot. Maybe we can't all solve her financial problems, but we are all good at listening (most of us anyway).
That's really nice that you're going to make baby blankets. I'm sure they will be much appreciated and put to good use.
I haven't really made any weekend plans, but I did take my truck into the dealership early this morning for some routine servicing. I'm glad it's over and done with, but I hate that I didn't get to sleep in today. Maybe a nap will be in order later when I'm watching a hockey game on tv.

I hope my friend joins as she is a people person and would enjoy chatting here.
I'm lucky that my son in law works in a dealership so he takes my car whenever it needs to be serviced, Can't beat door to door service. Sorry you weren't able to sleep in but enjoy that hockey game!

I think she would benefit from having a great group of people to talk to even if she doesn't want to talk too much about her personal problems.

One place that might hire him is a grocery store that has greeters. Our store, the one I retired from, rehired several times someone that worked there when he was younger- like sixties to seventies. He was still there when he was ninety but as a better. Eventually he began an falling a lot so they had to let him go.
If your friends husband is in good shape that might be a good place. Another option might be that your friend should consider won't instead since she's so much younger.
As far as the weather, we've been getting a dusting every day. I'll probably have to go out today or tomorrow to shovel some more. I was not up to par most of the week and might still take it easy today. It'll depend on whether I do okay with inside chores.
I was dizzy mon-wed and wed night after about two hours in bed was hit with a bad case of vertigo. Yesterday afternoon that was somewhat better. After talking to the nurse she prescribed some med for motionsickness. With that's helping or I'm getting better anyway.

Sorry to hear that you were hit with Vertigo. Hope the meds worked and you are feeling better.
I'm going to suggest being a greeter to my friend. Sounds like something he would be able to do and he's in good shape and still driving

It's really sad that my friends husband is looking for a job. He really should be enjoying retirement. I know she counts on me to listen but some days it's hard and I know that sounds like I'm not being a good friend.
We live hours away from each other so it's not like I can invite her for a cup of tea and have a nice visit.
I hope you find some pretty yarn and a new project to work on.

83 and looking for a job is really sad. Your friend should join. We all share our sorrows here. We only had 6" of s**w so it wasn't too bad. They closed all the schools though which was a surprise. Have a good weekend. No plans here.

It's too cold to have plans for the weekend (going out ones anyway). Guess 6 inches isn't too bad considering some places are getting blizzard like totals. We lucked out with less than 2 inches but it's freezing cold.

If I'm making two blankets it will probably take me a few eeks to do both. The baby isn't due until May so I have plenty of time.
