Ham Sammiches

Some nights you just want to have something simple, filling, and still good to eat for dinner. So, we just decided to make ham and cheese sandwiches on toasted bread. I fried up some onions and sliced some tomato and we added that to our sandwiches. Fried onions always add a nice little touch, if you ask me. For the cheese we just sliced off some Colby jack from a brick and used that. For sides we just finished up some salad we had made up and had some crinkle fries dipped in ketchup. I always tend to drop the ham into the frying pan just to heat them up too. It was good eats for sure. What went on your dinner table last night?

@porwest I had ham sammiches for lunch today, with English mustard.

@porwest Now there's something I've not yet thought about.

I bet English mustard is good stuff. So, what makes it English?

I love ham sammiches, I had them no more than one week ago. We had some appetizers on my dinner table last night, chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks.

@porwest - Sometimes I also prepare the sammiches for dinner. Not always I am in the mood to cook elaborate dishes.

I eat them a lot for lunch. But sometimes they make for a great and easy dinner too. Of course, making them for dinner they turn out to be a bit more "elaborate," but not by a lot.

@LadyDuck No. Most certainly not always in the mood to cook elaborate meals. That's why I like to make On-Cor meals from time to time and OCCASIONALLY order something in. OR just make a simple dinner like scrambled eggs or sandwiches.

Dinners like that are right up my alley. Easy, peasy and satisfying. Those fries look nice and crispy Last night we had chicken strips (frozen, just heat and eat) baked potatoes and broccoli

@porwest I love a nice crisp on fries and yes, they have to be soft on the inside.

I like fries to mostly have a little crunch to them, but of course be soft in the middle. They were good. But yes, a nice simple dinner sometimes is just what the doctor ordered. Your dinner sounds good as well.

@Marilynda1225 Sometimes I do find it somewhat difficult to get the crisp I want cooking them in the oven, but they still turn out good. I can usually get more crisp on a tater tot. Go figure. lol

@porwest You're welcome. You also made me hungry for cheesy potato soup. So, I have it in the crock pot right now.

I like tuna casserole and have not made one in a while. The more I talk about food around here the longer my list of things to make gets. So, thanks. lol

What’s on my dinner table? An iPad, some sweetener, Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning….oh, wait. I’ve discovered “instant chicken salad sandwiches” with canned chicken. I warm the chicken and mince it, then put a sauce on it. Last night I used ranch dressing. Lunch was the same, but with guacamole salsa. Tomorrow will be smoky BBQ sauce. Very quick to make and quite yummy (especially with the variations in toppings!).

You were pretty creative there for just a simple ham and cheese sandwich.

Homemade bolognese over pappardelle. This is the 3rd day in a row you haven't made me want to post a puke face.

I do that too sometimes. Lunch for supper. Like a turkey and cheese on a bagel sandwich. Adding fries to the mix was a good idea! I actually made a Turkey Burger with mashed potatoes on the side. Seems we both enjoy some "spuds" with our sandwich.

And even sometimes breakfast for supper. There really are no rules in my book. As for spuds, it's just more good eats. lol

That must be very filling. I'm too lazy to make anything. Just had some ripe bananas and masala tea

Sometimes I don't feel like cooking, but it's my job in the house, and so I just have to do it. We always have something for dinner. Although every once in a while we may order out for something.
