homemade sidewalk chalk

did you know you can make your own sidewalk chalk? It is easy and cheap. Just mix water and plaster of paris with some food coloring (I have even used powdered kool-aid to color) and pour into plastic or styrofoam cups. Let it dry for a few days and peel the cup away. The bonus is the cup shape keeps it from rollng down the sidewalk! It just rolls in a circle so you don't have to chase it.

First response, I wrote it in the wrong place. I think it is The next response down. Sorry 'bout that. Anyway, I was thinking about other thing that could be used for moulds; toilet rolls. Not to worry, there are less germs an a toilet roll than on your tap. Easily peeled off!!

HAHA That has happened to me too. Toilet rolls tend to wick out the water and flop over if the mix is really wet. They do work though.

Though really most stones are able to leave marks on the pavement. Good idea however. You should market it ;)

Great tip for sidewalk chalk. I will have to try it. It seems like it would be neat to put the chalk in different shaped containers that could be cut away after it dries. Also is it as easy to get off whatever they use the chalk to draw on as the commercial chalk?
