I know, I know. I am going to get poo-pooed right away by some just for the thought of cooking up a frozen concoction—and while it may seem like it, I don't actually use products like this all that much. But from time to time they do come in handy. And at least to me, I think they are good. For dinner last night I cooked up some On-Cor riblets and had a baked potato slathered with butter and French onion dip, and also had some buttered beans on the side. What went on your table for dinner last night?

I like ribs and baked potatoes, nothing against your dinner.

@porwest I think those are ribs, but finally is the taste that matters.

@LadyDuck Well, certainly not ribs in the traditional sense. In fact, if I ordered ribs at a restaurant and they served this to me they would definitely get sent back. lol. But I do like them, whatever they actually are.

The question for me is, are these ribs? I have no idea. But I do know they taste good to me.

I had hot honey barbecue wings for dinner last night, with a side of potato salad. I'm going to sound like NJChicaa here, but those riblets don't look that appealing.

@porwest I’m not going to lie, we have BBQ riblet sandwiches in our vending machine in the break room at work, and I eat them all the time. They only cost $2 and are about the size of the McRib. At $2, I have no idea what meat I’m eating, or if it’s even meat at all, but it tastes delicious.

I have never minded the infamous McDonald's McRib, and these patties remind me of that, which is probably why I like them. For years I have said I am going to make a sandwich out of them, but I have yet to do it. No idea why not? lol

@moffittjc I really don't know what the opposition to them are. Man, a riblet of God knows what animal slathered with some BBQ sauce with some onions and pickle on it? Yeah. I'm eating that. lol

We had left over sloppy joes last night. Your On-Cor riblets do not look very appetizing to me. But, I am glad you enjoyed them!

They are by no means gourmet, but they fill the bill when I don't feel like cooking.

@kareng Now, when it comes to pot pies, I make those from scratch. I haven't had a store bought pot pie in years. But I will admit when I did, they were yummy and always worked in a pinch. They ARE cheap though. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to keep a couple in the freezer.

It looks good. I had leftovers from Monday's dinner party, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, lettuce salad, and apple crisp.

@porwest It amazed me that I went two days without meat and didn't miss it.

@just4him That would amaze me too. lol. I do have an eggplant in the fridge I bought when we went to Trader Joe's the other day, and the eggplant parmigiana I will make with it will be a meatless dish. The only other meatless dish I can think of that I make is spinach lasagna. Other than that, there's pretty much always meat in whatever I make. Even when we make standalone salads in the summer, I put meat in it.

That sounds pretty good. I'd have needed some meat, though.

On-Cor is the brand? Hey, what happened to the plating of the dish lol? From the pic, I would not have known it’s a baked potato.

Yep. On-Cor is the brand. A company that operates out of Aurora, Illinois. They make a variety of frozen dinners and meals. As for plating, when did I ever say I was foofy? lol

There are only two canned vegetables I ever use. Carrots and green beans. I do not like fresh green beans at all and so we never eat them.

I'm all for quick, easy and frozen meals. Your baked potato with french onion dip sounds interesting. I've been putting blue cheese dressing on mine lately. Last night we had spaghetti with baked Perdue breaded chicken patties (see I'm a convenience person too).

I like a baked potato 100 different ways. But I do find French onion dip is a good go-to. It's good with potato chips, why not on a baked potato is what I say.

Not a thing wrong with a meal like that from time to time. I made some beef stroganoff for dinner. Hadn't made it in a long while. It was good.

I haven't made that in forever either. Dammit. And I have some beef in the freezer left from the chuck roast I cut up for my beef vegetable soup. I could definitely use that. Thanks for the reminder.

I wasn't sure if that was mashed potato just because you added butter on top of it, I thought that might be egg I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner. Last night we had Roti (flatbread) and fish curry. It roti was made by my hubby and curry was made by my sister-in-law who was visiting. It was delicious. But I had too much MASALAS for this summer. I quit for now.

Nice dinner. I never have such food for dinner unless on certain occasion, only lunch for the heavy food. I only consume light food or snack for breakfast and dinner.

@porwest Yes, I used to have the same but since rice is the dominant ingredient for dinner here, I tend to feel full easily with it for dinner. So, I switch to something lighter, less carbo more protein or at least not so much of it.

HUM? I don't know what to say on that 1 but nothing special went on my table last night. I just eat something here & there & called it done, I have gotten where I don't make a plate of food like 3-5 things on a plate. We don't eat at a certain time everyday & with Diabetics they say that's the way to do it, well I GOT news for them, we can't do meals on a schedule everyday, it's not us.
