Ew. The idea of a cruise in general is not appealing to me but this monstrosity is nuts. 20 levels? 7000+ passengers? 40 restaurants? Are they trying to take people to different destinations or keep them on board?
It is called the Icon of the Seas from Royal Caribbean. The biggest one I've seen is Epic of the Seas and that was ginormous. I've spent many vacations in Cozumel, Mexico which is like the #1 most visited cruise destination. We would always get up, drink our coffee on the balcony of the condo, and watch the cruise ships arrive. Then we'd see people get off like ants on the dock and in the afternoon we'd see them all rush back to the ship. It just doesn't look like fun to me. Way too hectic. I just want to get somewhere and relax--I don't want to work!
I definitely have no interest in joining Icon of the Seas. Just get me to a beach under a palapa with a margarita and I'll be good.
The Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas set sail today on a seven-day island-hopping voyage in the Caribbean before returning to Miami

It seems a bit too much for my liking too.
I was looking at a cruise through the locks up near the St Lawrence Seaway.
The ship carried 55 passengers and the trips that they book are for 5 days.
My hubs and I will put it on hold as we both felt it was too much at over $1000 per day for each of us.

@NJChicaa It was, but I was seriously considering it.
I only changed my mind because there may be another (expensive) trip that we may take this year.
And part of the reason that would be so costly is because it is to your country and the exchange rate to buy is currently 1.3822, which is wild.

I have to say that dome thing is pretty cool. I am with you, it is impressive, but always makes you go does the world need that when there is so many other problems they could be putting that kind of ingenuity towards?

As much I would love to travel on a cruise ship myself, the Icon Of The Seas is not a ship I would like to be onboard myself.

Gee, why don’t they just sell the state rooms as condos?

I always think that those big cruise ships are too top heavy and will end up like the Poseidon. We don't like to be rushed either; and I could never handle all the walking that a big cruise ship requires. What I think is amazing is the ice skating rink! Have a good week.

Even the smaller, elegant cruise ships don't appeal to me. That thing looks like a floating theme park and there's no escape once you are aboard!

I have cruised more times than I ever dreamed I would, mainly because some of my family seem to really like it and wanted me there. The last one was several years ago, for my birthday gift. But now..no. The last 3 times (before Covid) at least one of us ended the cruise sick--norovirus, etc...you get off the cruise, and if you don't live near the port, you need to get on a plane to go home. It's not a fun experience.
After a while, the cruises are basically all the same, anyway. Port stops. Waiting in lines, too much rich food, too many people drinking way, way too much, and then there are the people that only take a cruise to just gamble, often because they don't want their family and friends to know just how much they gamble! I met a lady on the last cruise I took--she said in 3 days, she had lost nearly $20K. Yes, gambling is an addiction, but sheesh...it's all the same for the most part. I would prefer to go to a desired destination and have beach time, etc. now rather than a cruise.
With serious talks of impending war(s), it has been said that these cruise ships could very well be a HUGE target, and to destroy one of them would put a big feather in the cap of whatever country did it. Can you even imagine, destroying a boat that has over 7,000 people on it?
Um..no. Not now.
