Influenced By myLot

It's one thing we talk about so often here on myLot. Food. What we eat. What we make to eat. I can't tell you how many ideas I have gotten for something to make based on something another myLotter posted about what they made for dinner, lunch, a side, or whatever else. Take this side. It was suggested by a myLotter, although I took my own liberties in deciding how I would make it. Rice with butter and Parmesan. I cooked my rice like I normally would, but added some butter to the water. I then added in 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese before I closed the lid and let it "soften." I think it will be delicious, and it was all based on something another myLotter suggested. How many times have you made something based on a post you read, and what did you make? How did it turn out?

@porwest One cup of raw rice is a good portion. That rice even as a name in Italy "risotto alla Parmigiana".

@LadyDuck I was sure it was not an original idea. Come to think of it, it's so simple an idea I am not sure why it never even naturally came to mind that I only thought of it when someone else mentioned it. lol

It was delicious. Definitely something I will be making again for sure. I used one cup of raw rice.

Nice. I'm sure you enjoyed the cheese rice. I haven't tried the food my mylotter friends posts because I need to get ingredients first before trying. Some Indian dishes I perceive are hard to make.

@porwest Perhaps I should start writing down too since there are many discussions and I forget sometimes. Glad you shared. You are very hardworking.

@mildredtabitha With so many things we talk about around here, it can be really easy to forget things. So yes, if something is mentioned food wise, TV show wise, movie wise, or otherwise, I tend to write it down.

If I see something that sounds particularly interesting, I will write it down and then if there is something that I need I add it to my shopping list and start looking for it.

That looks good and now you, through another mylotter, have given me a new thought for a new side in the future. Yes, I have gotten and made my version of different foods from time to time from here.

That sounds delicious. I have not tried eating rice with butter and Parmesan. Often times I got ideas from Mylot on what to cook. They all turned out well. Unfortunately, I forgot at the moment what I was cooking.

This one turned out to be a definite do over. It was really good. But we have a lot of great cooks on here and there's never a day that goes by I don't get an inspiration. I may not make it right away, but it definitely makes my list.

@avi256 Rice is one of my favorite sides and things to use in other dishes. I like pasta too. But I like rice better.

I haven't seen anything that was suggested that I'd like to try cause I have to be careful what I eat so I just stick to what I KNOW I can eat just to be safe.

That is completely understandable. Luckily, I am not in that position, so anything that looks good can still make it to my mouth. lol

@porwest I don't understand how after a year I can cook most foods okay, but why are all the desserts I cook awful? I'm planning to try a new recipe for cream cheese orange cookies soon, so we'll see.

Yes, I've been influenced by some dishes people make here. The mere mention of food will bring a mouth-watering delight and a trip to the fridge and cupboards to see if I have the ingredients to make said food. I have all the ingredients on hand for your rice dish. I just might try it.

It is really good rice, and I wish I could remember who gave me the idea. In any event, I am glad they did, and I will definitely be doing this side dish again, for sure.

@porwest I am glad you have gotten ideas here from people on what to make. I only make things that are kosher so look up a recipe I want to make to see what ingredients to use only if it is kosher. Some things I have made have turned out and others have not.

One thing everyone enjoys is food. After all, we gotta eat. And finding a new recipe to add to one's weekly meal plans. And when I taste a good recipe, I'm happier than I've ever "bean."

Your food looks nice, much more tasty than boring plain rice. I often get food ideas from people on myLot. The problem I find is that we all come from different parts of the world and I cannot always get the ingredients that they have used in their recipe.

Yeah, that can sometimes be an issue. Of course, here in the U.S. you can get practically anything. I like to make Spanish rice a lot. Just a real simple version of it. Boil some salsa with rice and voila. Could that be poor man's Spanish rice? lol
