I Saved Around $50 Tonight

The stock market did very well for us today. I mean, it was a really good day. My Texas Roadhouse stock for example is over a 15% gain and I am trying to decide whether to realize more upside or just sell.
My Amazon stock jumped. My Kraft Heinz stock jumped. My FSTA jumped. Kroger jumped.
Let's just say things worked out well. And I am not bragging. It was just good is all.
As such I thought, you know what? I want a pizza. So, I asked the wife, "Do you want a pizza, or should I just cook something?"
She said, "Just cook something."
So, cook something I did, and it will be delicious, and we saved $50 we would have spent on a pizza.
I mean, we are going to spend some money when we go to Tavern on Main on Tuesday for her birthday anyway.
I think we will make up for any savings there. I suspect we will drop a Benjamin or more at least. But of course, I will monitor the next few days and see if we might want to drop some money somewhere else.
If the markets keep delivering, would it be stupid NOT to enjoy some of it?

"The wife" or "my wife"???
It's good you saved money but you'll spend it all on her birthday.

@mildredtabitha Why? It's a common "reference" here in the U.S.

Sounds like you like very pricey pizzas. I am glad your stock market investments are covering you small pleasures.

@porwest That is the age-old balancing act: enjoying your wealth in your golden years, but not running out of it before you die.

Your wife was right to have something at home instead of spending the money on a pizza. I know you wanted to celebrate but you are celebrating with your wife for your birthday and that should be a nice celebration. I am glad you did well in he stock market and hope you continue to do well. Even though I do not know your wife please wish her a happy birthday from me. Some of the things you shared makes me think she is a very good person.

If all you did was make money, what fun would that be? You've gotta spend some once and a while as you well know. We had planned to go to Red Lobster; but hubs is in the hospital. I don't know how long it's going to take him to recover. Congratulations on your good investments. Have a good weekend.

@porwest You're welcome. Hubs and I have some projects around the house to be done. One is putting a handrail on the porch that he fell off. But we want to spend some more while we're still alive. Something fun.

I spend plenty. Trust me. As you know, my motto is "save on the things you need so you can afford the things you want." Granted, I wanted a pizza. But I also considered I would be spending more than usual on Tuesday when I take the wife out for her birthday, so I just figured it might be wise to stagger it out a little bit.
Thanks for the update on hubs.

It is surprising how much money you can save by cooking at home, and I expect your homecooked meal was better than a pizza.

Well. I would put a "kinda sorta" caveat in there. The pizza would have been awesome, and it has been quite a while since I have gotten one. But overall, yes, home cooked is better most of the time and I do like the cost savings it offers of course.
The meal I made, all said, probably cost me around $4.

You could make a pizza, then everyone would be happy : )
As for the markets delivering - you haven't actually gained anything unless you sell at a profit, until then they are just numbers on a screen, the stock could just as easily go down again tomorrow!

Not a bad idea and I have not made one in a while. Not that hard to make either. I usually cheat anymore and just buy one of those premade crusts, so all I have to do is just put it all together and toss it in the oven.
As for your market assessment, this is correct. I still count the gains though even though they could just as easily disappear as they appeared. lol
Ultimately, though, it DOES let me see where the resistance and support levels are, which makes it slightly easier to assess where my buying opportunity might be, or when it might be a good idea to make a trade.
