Cereal in a go cup, milk included? Yes or No?

I have in the past seen the little, tiny boxes of cereal a person can buy in a variety of flavors and colors, I haven't purchased them as I don't buy sugar cereal. Yesterday, one of my neighbors moved and brought me a box of foodstuffs, thinking that since my son is here so much, I could use it.
This was in the box--there is 6 of them! A plastic cup, with the cereal sealed in it, but now, dry milk is in there! Hmm. I can see that for camping, or to give out at food pantries to those who may not have refrigeration, the just add water feature would be very handy.
But here we go, making yet more sugary junky food handy for everyone, and making yet more plastic garbage. As I said, I wouldn't purchase these as I don't like sugar coated cereal, but to me, the plastic is a turn-off.
Would you buy these?

@MarieCoyle The only thing I buy is oat, to prepare the Swiss birker müsli, I add yogurt, dried fruits, berries and some seeds or chopped nuts, no sugar.

I love oats with golden raisins and chopped walnuts, so yummy. I like berries a lot, too.

I only eat hot, cooked cereals. I don't want my breakfast in a plastic bowl covered with sugar.

@MarieCoyle You could save money putting the cereal in a cup. Plenty of mugs with lids on them anymore

There is really no excuse to stop for a drink all the time, with the wonderful cups they have now that are so well insulated. I know my 2 Contigo cups are wonderful, they keep my coffee hot for hours or my ice water very cold for a long time.

No, only in case of emergency. I haven't of any anybody not having refrigeration..but I guess if you don't have electricity you don't. There may be some poor souls in that boat.

I was thinking of homeless people, who wouldn't have refrigeration, but I am sure there are others as well.

I literally just now pulled out some powdered milk that I only use for my face . . . I use a bit of water and make a paste. I know that powdered milk smell and can't really see myself drinking it except maybe if I had to. So the thought of dry milk in cereal sounds gross to me. Sugary cereal is not nutritious. And you're totally right about the plastic - such waste there is in packaging. It's a big no for me!

@MarieCoyle Ah, I'll have to try it in cooking . . . well I know it's probably already in those dry baking mixes. Now that I think of it - that box is something I had throughout the pandemic - I could have used that
.

I always keep some powdered milk here. It's saved me many times when it was nasty out and all we needed was milk. But I am not a milk drinker, it's mostly to cook with and it tastes fine in cooking. I do buy regular milk but since I do not drink it, I have to keep it moving and I just buy the smaller sizes.

Honestly, in cooking we can not tell the difference. It's just so handy to have as a back-up.

I have mixed feelings about this. I can see where it would come in handy but I don't have any need to buy it.
Aside from the plastic container, sugary cereal, etc I am turned off by adding water. I would totally dislike warm milk and just the thought of it is yucky.

It just seems like such a high price when you look it up, there is not much in there. Oh, and there's the fairly thick plastic cup, which will probably take a lot of years to disintegrate if not recycled...yes, I know, I'm a tree-hugger.

@MarieCoyle Thank you, Marie. I am hanging in there. Not used to not having someone to help me; but so far I'm doing OK. Hubby's cousin brought me a meal last night.

Son was curious so he opened one. It said to add cold water, so he did that. His opinion was, it did taste just like it did when he was little, just the milk being a bit different. But he doesn't care for that particular cereal, so we will pass it on.

I remember when I was young my mother used to buy powdered milk for the barn cats, but we never drank it in the house.
I did not even know that it was still around.
I prefer ancient grains cereal, which has very little sugar, but like some fresh strawberry slices on it to sweeten it up and of course 1% milk.

@MarieCoyle I feel that our tastes do change as we gracefully age.
I have always been a milk drinker.
My mother took me to the doctor on several occasions because I would not eat and seemed to live on milk for years. Still to this day, if it gets to be 3 or 4 in the afternoon, and I haven't had a big glass of milk, I will crave it.

I'm just not a milk drinker. I make oatmeal or cream of wheat the old fashion way, on the stove in a pan. I detest the instant versions. I add whatever I want to add when I put it in my bowl, fruit, etc. but no milk. I just no longer want milk on it, not sure why. I guess our tastes change as we get older?

When I was a kid, I loved it. Gradually I realized that while it's fine to cook and bake with, I really don't want to drink it anymore, and it's been literally years since I have had a glass of any type of milk. But hey, it sounds like you love it, so that's good.
''Gracefully age''....not sure about the grace at times, but OH, the age thing sure does march on past us, doesn't it? Way, way too fast!!

One of my son's friends said he had been eating Raisin Bran because he needed to watch his sugar. He was telling me his sugar was still high, and he ate that every morning. I showed him the sugar counts, Raisin Bran has more sugar in it than Sugar Frosted Flakes, he was just amazed. People don't check, don't do their homework on foods, then wonder why? Good grief.

@MarieCoyle We pay much more attention to the side panels now. It's amazing the amount of sugar in some cereals - and they're touted as being good for you.

I used to eat cereal all the time for breakfast but have not had it in ages. I like the big boxes because you can fill up the bowl and put a banana on top and milk on top of that. I other words I would not buy what you have in the picture.

When I still drank tea before it upset my stomach I did not put sugar in it but before I did my weight loss journey I did.
Cereal that has sugar in it does not bother me. I do not add more sugar but I have not eaten cereal in ages. I used to love cereal with a banana on top and milk on top of it.

I wouldn’t buy it either. I think we have gone too far in the package waste we produce. It’s just beyond terrible. Not to mention these sugar laden foods are not healthy at all!

I will never understand why cereals and certain foods classed as ''healthy'' really are loaded up with sugars, chemicals, etc. Not healthy at all, it's just lies.

I would have to say no. But more because I know what they will charge for these will make the equivalent cost of a box of cereal about ten times what an actual box of cereal costs, and they sell enough containers in the U.S. that anyone should be able to put some cereal and milk into them to make their own at a fraction of the cost.
They even make things like a Thermos to keep your milk cold. Imagine that. lol

I come up with some seriously strange ideas for inventions sometimes. I'm not sure just why.
You design it and get it rolling, would you? Send me a pittance when you get it sold!

I thought of the Thermos as well. But we are talking about people who don't want to wash a bowl, so you know they would never want to wash a Thermos.
That's IT. We should invent a disposable Thermos, or one that is self cleaning. Maybe we could make millions!

No, I would not buy them although I would not turn them down if given. Noticing at school most of the cereals they get claim to have reduced the amount of sugar in them. When I worked in Head Start we served our own cereal in scoops and never had sweetened. Now they get the plastics as well, but at least in our school they always get the ones with no sugar.

I don't think a lot of people realize just what excessive sugar can really do, and how bad it is for us. That's good that Head Start does that.

That's weird sounding, powdered milk already in the cereal container. No I would not buy that. I have bought in the past those individual serving boxes of cereal where you add regular milk. It was Kellogg's variety pack. You know what I am referring to?

While I agree that free food is good, this stuff is just basically sugar and chemicals, so I am not missing anything by not eating it.
