Do You Celebrate Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day is a super commercial holiday that many people celebrate. I love chocolates, and that certainly is the day for them. I have not had a romantic relationship for years, but at some point in the past, I decided I needed to remember to treat myself well because nobody else was going to. That was when I started getting myself something for Valentine's Day each year. Sometimes something simple and other times a bit more expensive. Two years ago, I got myself a rocking recliner which I sleep in every night. Last year I got myself a new sewing machine. This year I have not planned anything, but since I am looking for a house to buy, if I get that chance, the house will be my Valentine's Day gift to myself. What, if anything, do you do for Valentine's Day?

No. I have never celebrated ValentineĀ“s day. It is a new imported saint from the US.

@capirani Very interesting link. But it was not one of the saints we knew of in my country when I was a child,

I'm just going to be thankful to have my husband home. He's still recovering from a stroke. If he agrees to eat a dinner by then I'll be so excited.

I had my husband take me to Applebee's for Valentine day. I did not want to be in a crowd.

I have never celebrated valentine's before but I would really love to experience it with a partner. For now I can just treat myself to something good that I love, hopefully next year I will have someone to celebrate it with.

Nah. Like you said, it's a commercial holiday. I don't need a special day on my calendar to remind me I love my wife and tell her so.

It has been a long time since I celebrated this since I broke up with my ex. I think I will have one this month with a special someone.

It is the biggest waste of time holiday I can think of.

I cannot say that we celebrate, I prepare a nice dinner for us, but I buy nothing and I want nothing from my husband, no chocolates, no flowers.
