Computers drive me crazy!!!

February 7, 2024 2:49am CST
I get it I am old. I grew up in a different time. But come on. There has to be an easier way. I am in my late fifties and every day people use computers to do everything. I loved the days when you could ask a person a question and get an answer. Then if you didn't understand they were right by your side to help. No more. People love to say it is easy. To add insult to injury they say it is so easy. Well I am losing brain cells as we speak. So if is so easy to understand then how come people don't take the time to explain to you so you can understand. Instead they are famous for... do this, this and this and done. If that was my roast beef in the oven. It is far from rare. It is so well done. Shoe leather is softer. So as I struggle with the easiest of all things. I keep hanging in there. Hanging on until one day it clicks. The only thing that is clicking is my neck from an old car accident. Tomorrow will be a better day. As long as I don't hit delete first.

@Rashnag I love the reminders. Are you a computer genius? Some people get it quickly. I swear it's in their blood.

I am learning a little more every day. The problem is sometimes I easily forget what I learned yesterday. If I go a week without using my new skills what I have learned slowly disappears. Thank you for your help.

You consider yourself old and are only in your late fifties? You could be my son! When I got my first computer, I asked a boy to explain things to me but told him to only answer my questions and not show off his knowledge. This worked well. Maybe you can find a youngster in the neighbourhood (or ask a teacher from a nearby school if they can recommend one) who is willing to explain computer problems to you. Give him some money for his help, so both sides will be happy.

Good luck. It is not easy and I dispute anyone saying it is.

I will keep trying and I know it takes time. Each day I am one step closer. Thank you for your support. The funny thing is as soon as I learn something there are other ways that are better, So many choices. I like just one.

I am sorry that you have problems using computers. I am older than you are, but I started using computers many years ago, when I was still young.

I like learning from people who see computers from my point of view. They can understand how frustrating it is to do the things that most people don't think twice about. Thank you for responding, While we are on the subject. I am trouble just putting my profile in my bio. Whenever I try to type something in the computer screen won't allow me to put anything. Silly but true.

@Itsonlyadream You need to make 10 posts before you can add a website or bio on their profile. This is what our Admin explained to another user.

I struggle with all technology, I think it is all moving too fast for a lot of people. Us older people have had to learn it all as we go along , unlike the youngsters who are taught about technology in school and they are growing up with it.

I have now accepted the truth. It is o.k. not to understand. The younger generation makes it looks so easy. So I think I have a little jealousy I have to get over. I feel I am older than them I should be better and I know I am not. i grew up with books and old dictionaries and out dated encyclopedia's. Back then we thought it was awesome.

I'm sorry you have trouble with computers. I'm not that good with them either, but I can just get by. I use a tablet and I need to get rid of my desktop computer because it is never used. My Mum doesn't know how to use computers. I have to show her how to use YouTube.

@Itsonlyadream I think tablets are easier to use. It did take me a while to get used to it. I think you and my Mum would be great together! I did have a great day, thank you very much. I hope you are well. Have a great night.

@sharonelton I know your never suppose to ask a woman her age. I would love to see what her interests are?How old is your mom? I was very close to my mom and those are the best years of my life talking with her.

You are determined and way to go. I will try to put more time on the computer, I find so many distractions that before you know it the day is gone. It's a learning process. I am on a learning curve that just keeps going and going. Thank you so much for all your help.
