Oh Well, They Were Closed

Sometimes a plan just falls apart through no fault of your own. My wife's birthday was Tuesday, February 6th, and we had planned to have dinner at a local restaurant downtown called Tavern on Main. It's a nice spot with great food and one entire side of the restaurant is also its own bar. We figured we'd have a nice meal with some tapas for appetizers and maybe a drink or two to celebrate her special day. We got ready to go and headed out, only to arrive at the restaurant and meet with this sign on their front patio, "We are temporarily closed on Mondays and Tuesdays." Oh well. We wound up going up the street a bit and ate at a Mexican restaurant called Margarita's. It was still good food and we had a good time. I ate a combo plate with a burrito and tostada served with Mexican rice and refried beans and wifey had some taquito platter thing. For drinks I had a beer, Sol with lime, and wifey had a mango margarita.

I'm glad you still had a good time. Maybe you can continue her birthday and go out to the Tavern another day.

I am sorry you found the restaurant closed, but at least you enjoyed Mexican food. Mango margarita sounds interesting, I never tried to make one.

@porwest I make strawberry Margaritas and watermelon Margaritas. The last ones are refreshing and incredibly good in summer.

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. On the bright side, another local restaurant got a chance to share in the wealth. lol

What would you have ordered at the tavern? Big juicy steaks, I suppose? Happy Birthday to your lovely wife.

I rarely ever order steak when I am out. I can make them better and cheaper at home. Usually I will opt for salmon since the wife doesn't like it, so I never cook it, and it's typically the only time I can get my salmon fix. lol. She thanks you.

I'm sorry the restaurant you and your wife intended to go was closed. Good to know that you both still had a great time.

Come to think of it, I did that, and we have yet to go back there. Hmm. I am sure I will be reminded soon enough, but I am trying to keep it on the down low. I saved some coin going to the Mexican restaurant that night. lol

I don't expect you to stop using it on my account but I hate the tern 'wifey'. I also don't like 'the old woman' much when applied to a wife. And if I want to get up Vince's nose, I tell him he's a 'good chappie'.
