A Link to a Little Dinner

A post like this will either deliver me accolades or screams of horror—and I can almost bet I know who will provide me either response.
I know who you are and where you live.
We went to Ruler Foods yesterday, a subsidiary of Kroger, and a store that is very much like an Aldi, and I decided to get some Bar-S cheddar smoked sausage links. They are actually quite good, according to me, and so quick and easy and relatively cheap to boot, it just works.
So, I boiled these up and we had the sausage with some Walmart deviled egg potato salad on the side and we also had broccoli with some Miracle Whip dabbled on top.
I know I always get puke faces for my broccoli combination, but I swear to you it is good eats.
What went on your dinner table last night?

We had salad, some fresh homemade bread, and chili.
There will always be someone that doesn’t like what you fix or eat. I read various people’s food posts at times and think oh, no way…give yourself some credit for actually taking the time to make something to eat. In this wacky world we live in, so many people just eat fast food every day and then wonder why they are out of money.

@MarieCoyle It's like most things. It's okay to have and make use of shortcuts once you know the long way. But knowing the long way is extremely important. When it comes to cooking, I find it really isn't all that hard.

So many people get packaged food, in a box or prepared frozen food. They heat it up, and they call that cooking. It's heating something up, not cooking. I don't understand anyone who doesn't teach their children how to cook some basic meals. We never know what life will bring--it may come down to the ''hey, cook it and eat it at home, or starve'' that so many people have had happen to them, and still refuse to cook.

Last night was leftover night. We cleaned the frig. out! Tonight I just stopped at Arby's and got Classic Roast Beef sandwiches since I was gone to the flea market all afternoon. It worked!
Your meal looks good and would be a nice change of pace every now and then!

I love those kind of sausages, but they don't love me!
This afternoon we fried shrimp and cornbread with slaw and stewed potatoes. Once in a while I buy shrimp ready to cook, but we bought these from a seafood market.

@porwest The dinner was good, but I fried the shrimp a few seconds too long. It's so hard not to do that.

@1creekgirl It really is. I hope it didn't do too much harm. I know it can get a little rubbery if you are not careful.

@porwest It's easier than trying to microwave something. Hubby's cousin made up a bunch for me.

Man, I cannot remember what I ate last night. I like to take orange wedges and squeeze them over steamed broccoli. At school I put ranch on broccoli for my student. School veggies are often quite bland. That plate, minus the Miracle Whip, looks just like something my husband would eat. And love every bit of it.

Usually I respond to Linda's posts, so they serve as a bit of an archive of sorts for me. lol. But it can be hard to remember, for sure. Ranch is good on broccoli as well and we have done that too, although much less often. Sometimes we'll throw on some French onion dip too.

Everything looks great except for the yellow liquid next to the sausage.
I had indomie instant noodles for dinner yesterday.

@mildredtabitha It's basically just a condiment like ketchup or horseradish sauce or tartar sauce or something like that.

You have a strange food mixture you eat that
would make me think twice about eating it.
But it's your gut not mine, so I'll just stick to
what I like to eat & hope you don't get sick.
