Autograph Books

United Kingdom

I often look at an online auction site where they sell lots of things including antiques and collectables. One lot that caught my eye was a box of autograph books. The details did not state if these books had been signed or who by. It did get me thinking about when I was at school and most of us girls would carry an autograph book around with us. Mostly we got our friends and classmates to sign our books, maybe we were all hoping to bump into somebody famous and get their autograph. I never did bump into anyone famous and I do not know what happened to my autograph book in the end. Did you ever have an autograph book, and did you get anyone famous to sign it?

They never signed my autograph book; but I've met several celebrities and they've signed records or a sheet of paper. Have a good weekend.

NO, I never had an autograph book, I have never been interested in collecting signatures of famous people. I have met some famous people during my life, I would have felt so silly asking an autograph, not very professional.

@lazydaizee - Princess Grace Kelly, Prince Albert of Monaco, Sean Connery, Steven Jobs, several tennis players, several Formula 1 car racers, many actors of the past (I remember well David Niven and Cary Grant). Living in Monte Carlo during 31 years it was common to meet famous people.

We had yearly Year Books in Highschool that we would receive at the end of the school year. We then sign each other's Year Books. It's nice to look back at the books now and reminisce.

Yes I did but no, it was only classmates who wrote witty messages or rhymes in it. I rediscovered it just last year and put it in the fire!

I expect my old autograph book went in the bin. I can remember people writing rhymes in mine.

My friends all had them but I wasn't really interested. I would have been too shy to ask people for autographs except for classmates of course.
