Have You Every Plucked a Zither

Now you’re wondering what I am talking about. A zither is a musical instrument. It has a flat sounding box with numerous strings over it. You place it on a horizontal surface and use a plectrum to play it along with your fingertips. I had never heard of such an instrument and found it very interesting. Have you ever plucked one @TheHorse? I am not sure if the Latvian national instrument fits in this category but it is similar so the photo is of the Latvian instrument kokle. Many beautiful traditional songs are played accompanied by the kokle. Now you know about two interesting instruments the zither and the kokle. Curious me can pass along further knowledge that just as I thought kokles are in the zither family as from the Internet: “Kokle or historically kokles (kukles) is a Latvian plucked string instrument (chordophone) belonging to the Baltic box zither family known as the Baltic psaltery along with Lithuanian kankles, Estonian kannel, Finnish kantele, and Russian krylovidnye gusli.” The link provides a Latvian folk song accompanied by kokles

@Dena91 that was my one passion when I had a piano playing hymns those I love both in English and Latvian, When and if I can I am thinking of getting a keyboard just to play some of the old songs I like for fun,

I knew what a zither was but have never had a chance to play one. I liked the video and it was interesting to see the folk costumes as well as to hear the music.

I have heard of a zither, and I went to a concert once, where a spiritual guru from India played one here, years ago. Very peaceful, his music. A lot of highly spiritual people seem to like to play musical instruments too. The Sufi spiritual giant, Hazrat Inayat Khan, played the Vina, or Veena.
