Or, in those Canadian provinces that celebrate it as Family Day: Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. On Prince Edward Island, it's called Islander Day. Other provinces and territories, as I understand it, call the day by other names or, like Quebec, ignore it altogether. If I'm wrong, forgive me. I found this information at https://www.statutoryholidays.com/family-day.php. Presidents Day, still legally George Washington's Birthday here in the US, is a combined holiday for both Lincoln and Washington and all other Presidents past and present. Mostly, it's a federal holiday and a time for selling cars and mattresses. If you had a day off work today due to one or the other of these holidays, I hope you enjoyed your day.

I'm retired so every day is President's Day in our house. Hope you have a great day.

For me as well. My poor missus is younger than me and not retired and, to add insult to injury, her company doesn't honor the Presidents' Day holiday.

@DWDavis Bummer. I am 7 years younger than my husband; but I retired 5 years early on disability; so I got to spend more time with him.

I like the title of 'Family Day' and all it implies. No holiday here but basically most days are holidays when you're retired.

My days are so busy now that I'm retired, I wonder how I ever found time to work.

I wish I am living in these countries to have my time off at work.

Don't you have any national holidays there?

You have correct information. Our Family Day holiday is relatively a new holiday, starting in 2008. Happy Presidents Day.

It seems like a very good idea. One of my Twitter friends posted about it, and that's how I learned of the holiday.

Sadly, most of our bills come via email now, and the internet didn't take the day off.

You got the information correct about Family day. Newfoundland and the territories also dont celebrate it. It is always nice to have an extra day off. F

I read that there is a movement to make Family Day a Canada-wide holiday. Do you think that will happen?

@DWDavis It may but I am not sure. Quebec usually does their own thing.

I am enjoying my President's Day working at home sharing good news stories as well as competing surveys.
