Restaurant lunch, not something we do often. We've passed a nice local place, nothing pretentious, a few times while out walking and decided to to give it a try today since we wanted to be out.
Very nice concept - buffet style and everything is priced per 100 grams. So we each got a plate, plate got zeroed on the scale, and we pointed to what we wanted.
Dalene got a piece of chicken pie and some chicken stew (chicken with sweetcorn, peppers and tomatoes) with a fried potato mushroom hash.
I was going to get the rice pilaf, but that potato mushroom mix looked so nice, I decided on that instead. A generous piece of trout, a nice pastry of cottage cheese and eggs and a traditional salad of eggplant, pepper and onion with a mayonnaise dressing completed my plate.
Total bill was 19.95 Lari (about $7.50) with no service or other fees.
Nice and tasty food, not over the top portions (well we did pick the size of the portions ourselves) and nice seating space made for a very nice outing.
This has made it onto our list of places with good meals.
Collage is from the restaurants facebook page.

There are a couple Georgian restaurants in the Bay Area—one in San Carlos and one in Palo Alto

Charging by weight is not popular with Americans.

Lucky for us we don't mind at all, we can control portions that way, else it is just these vasts lumps of food on a plate which is wasted because we cannot finish it. I should think steakhouses sell by weight though.

Sounds good Berend. I love buffets, or rather used to.

Was a guy in Rivonia who used to make a buffet with over 200 dishes, that put me off it for quite a while. But this is decent sized and nothing dried out

That buffet looks very good. There are a few Georgian restaurants in the Bay Area—one in San Carlos and one in Palo Alto, that I know of.
