Vince has developed a sensor in his leg

Our lounge room area is quite small. We have a recliner each which face the TV and a small coffee table between the chairs and TV. My recliner is near the bookcase and wall. I mostly ‘recline’ but Vince often just crosses one knee over the other. If I get up and need to go to the kitchen, I can either go round the coffee table or pass between Vince and the table. It doesn’t matter to me which way I go but Vin invariably uncrosses his legs so there is room for me to walk past. I kid him that he has a sensor in his leg and when it senses me coming, it sends a signal to his brain to make room for me to pass. The photo is of the coffee table. The tiles were painted by my mother.

He doesn't even look up from his book. Just unfolds his legs as though they're doing it all by themselves.

Wow! I kept looking at the tiles for a while. What beautiful paintings! Your mama was surely very talented. You made me smile with the mention of sensor in legs. That's a good analogy.

It's as if his legs are detached from him. He doesn't look up or stop reading just uncrosses his legs.

That is a beautiful table. I thought you were going to say the sensor in his legs does not allow you to pass.... It is much better how you have described it.

For a long time, I'd tell him not to worry as I could go round but he still does.

@JudyEv You're kind. I'd be yelling at friend to move his legs..but he is quite an inconsiderate person unfortunately. He would never think of moving them on his own, and even if he did, he wouldn't bother.

@JudyEv I do not have anything from my parent's place but I was fortunate enough to get my Gramma's dining room table, buffet and china cabinet. I also have an embroidered sampler of hers that hung on the wall outside of her bedroom.
