A productive Sunday

We went to our friend's church this morning which is always nice. I sang two songs, then we came home and had leftover catfish stew for lunch.
I had a lovely hour nap while Dale went to the annual meal packing event for Rise Against Hunger.
It's such a great charity to support that feeds so many people here in the US and around the world. At this event people from several local churches met in a neighbor's huge barn to pack ready to boil meals.
It cooks into a full nutritional meal of rice, veggies, and vitamins that don't have to be refrigerated.
Our neighborhood churches have been doing this annual event for many years now. They packed over 9,000 meal packs today (some years we did over 20,000.)
I have one more follow-up doctor's appointment tomorrow, then hopefully we'll head to Tammy's this weekend for the cruise. Maybe by then the lumbar epidural in my back will kick in.
I've decided that instead of focusing on things that hurt, I'll try to focus on things that don't!
Easier said than done? Or as it's usually looked at as counting my blessings.

That's so true, isn't it? But I'd never make it without Jesus.

That's so sweet of you to say. I'm gradually recovering from cancer and all the other things that have happened.

It really is a great charity, non profit of course. Because people donate money to buy supplies and their time to pack the meals, a lot more people can be fed.

@1creekgirl I like donating time more than money. I have done some work with youth homes and with Catholic Charities.

It is better to dwell on the good events in our lifetime than the bad events in our lives to get some peace of mind.

That's a lovely picture of you. Your epidural should have kicked in by now. Are you in a lot of pain? I hope not. Rise Against Hunger sounds like a wonderful charity. I hope nothing comes between you and Dale and your cruise. Praying you have a wonderful time. Hope you have a good week.

I think the shot is helping, I don't hurt nearly as much, I guess I'm expecting too much. How are you? Has your husband been transferred to rehab yet?

@1creekgirl I'm sorry the shot isn't helping more. I am hanging in there. No. He's now in the Surgical ICU at Cleveland Clinic.

Thank you, Marie. I still wear a wig in public, although my hair is still coming in. My real hair was just starting to look pretty good before I got cancer, but chemo sure did an awful job on it.

@MarieCoyle Thaks, Marie. A lady at church thought that was my hair that had grown out.

Hair or no, you are a lovely lady, Vicki. Sometimes it takes the hair a long time to grow back. Your wig in the picture looks like the real deal to me!
