Sad about Dollar Tree

And now they are closing some Dollar Trees and Family Dollar stores. I used to like to shop at those when they were nearby. And then they raised prices a little bit. But do you shop at these stores? Are there any nearby your place?

That's how business and the industry go I'm afraid. We have several of them all over the place.

@RebeccasFarm It's always sad to see good brands go. However, that's just life.

On occasion I may pop into Dollar Tree. Haven’t been there in a while. Not sure if we have the other store here.

My daughter likes to shop at them. We have one Family Dollar one direction and the Dollar Tree the other. The Family Dollar is a bit more expensive.

There are Dollar Trees and the likes all over the place. There are just too many of these type of shops - it'd be hard to believe they are all doing well. I shop there less these days . . . I'm just not needing to buy "stuff" as much anymore.

@RebeccasFarm Right - it works out for many folks still - even if does cost a little more now. We are just oversaturated here (in other words, we are spoiled brats ).

Yes buying is down, I get that Much. They sure do fill a void though in some rural places where there is no stores for miles.

I sure hope they don't close all of them. On most things they're still cheaper than Walmart. I was buying reading glasses at Walmart and paying around $12 a pair. Now I get them at $Tree for $1.25. I keep a pair all over the house.

I sure hope they don't either..they are good in rural areas when other stores are miles away.

@RebeccasFarm Around here Dollar Generals are like that. They pop up all the time in small communities which is really nice.

We don't have those stores here. Are they kind of one dollar shop?

Yes everything is one dollar..but since the pandemic..they raised the price to $1.25. A dollar and 25 cents..still very cheap. These stores are vital in rural areas where there are no other shops.

That was an interesting article you shared in the link. It makes sense why family dollar is doing so poorly. I don’t shop there other but it is sad that 1000 of their stores will close.

We have a Dollar Tree about a mile down the road. I do shop there and it's still worth it to pay the small increase in price.

As they raise their prices, they are in competition with Walmart and others like Grocery Outlet. I went in last week and found they had Coke Zero at $1.75 and Walmart was $1.62. Depends the size and what you are looking for, you may not save much now.

We have a Dollar Tree about a mile from us and I do go there every 3-4 months or so. Family Dollar us also pretty close to us but I don't go there hardly at all. I think it has been 3-4 years since I last went to it. Not as impressed with them for some reason.
