Csrtagena de Indias is not only one of the most beautiful cities in Colombia but also one of Humanity´s landmarks.
But sea level has risen due to global warming and even old cemeteries have given up their deads.
We are still doing too little to stop this. Even a pair of blue jeans that we don´t need means an incredible amount of water used.
The plastics thrown into the sea has made an "island" bigger than Australia. And only a short time ago did we learn that the plastic we swallowed along with the sodas caused cancer among us.
What are you doing to help? We now have returnable soda bottles in every big supermarket. So that the sodas are not charged more if we use them.
I went to Cartagena de Indias for the fist time over 50 years ago. It was AWESOME. Near where we stayed there was a Colombian disco of sorts only cumbias were sung there. It was called La Piragua and it is no longer there.
Let us stop destroying the best we have.

We can do a lot ourselves. We don´t have to wait for the government to do it. We elected the government.

@nela13 I think that we all do much less than what we can. The problem is that when we realize this it will be too late.

@marguicha that is true, we do what we can but it is not enough.

This has happened to many other islands because of global warming and ice melting.

And people don´t do much either. It has taken ages for us to recycle a bit but in some ways we are worse than before. The consumerism starts at an early age.

@marguicha - We throw everything in our days. I remember when we needed to bring the bottle to go buy some products in the past. And we brought back the glass bottles to be washed and recycled.

We must try to stop using cars even to go next door.

So it has begun. I knew that some cities were going to be swallowed up due to the higher water levels. The plastic problem is horrific. Companies need to harvest this plastic and recycle it. I hope you have a good weekend.

I do know that not all plastics are as bad. Some should be banned from every country. And I´m shocked by the amount of clothes people buy. They are made to last for less than a season and then they are discarded. And not even poor people want them.

@marguicha I'm not a clothes horse and buy clothes that will last for years. I have a closet full of clothes that I can't fit into anymore. Those will be given to charity.

Yes, it is very discouraging. We need to try to do more to save the planet, and ourselves.

We cannot wait for governments to do it. Each of us must do something about it.

There are many things that can be done. Only we don´t do them.

That is alarming. Indeed, we need to do more.

We MUST do more. Even if it is only because our lives are threatened.
