Can't they read?

I placed a Walmart order this afternoon that was to be delivered between 9 and 10. I put my bags out as well as a half-sheet note in big letters telling them to NOT put the soft drinks in the bags because they're too heavy for me to manage. I watched him take the bags and the note. Naturally, he put both the two liters and the one gallon of milk plus other items in one bag. I literally had to drag it into the kitchen. I swear people are getting more and more stupid every day. Even without the note, WHY put them all in one bag, especially when he didn't even use one of the bags I put out!!??
Just a follow-up. The grocery guy who delivered the next day put EVERYTHING in two bags. Two six-packs of drinks and three 1-liter bottles in one bag plus one grocery item and everything else in another. I put out three bags. He took the third with him. Yeah.

You might have gotten someone who does not know how to speak or read English. One of the delivery people from Walmart that came with my delivery once was that way. He couldn’t communicate in anything but Spanish.
Should he have known with a note? One would have hoped so.

I have several neighbors who use Walmart delivery services. The other day, one of them had a large order arrive, she had requested 2 of the rotisserie chickens (hot) and ice cream. Yes, they put them in the same bag! And yes, the ice cream was of soup consistency. She wasn't happy.
No common sense at all.

She did get a refund. She took pictures of the hot chicken and melted ice cream in the same bag. Why would anyone put them together like that? No common sense at all.

Not sure how you do your Walmart orders. Mine come to my door at my home and there is no way to put notes out or bags, etc.
As to the reading part of this discussion, I have found in the past several years that so many people tend to not read anything. It is very frustrating. For example, one former apartment manager would put an envelope out in the lobby and the folder contained a full application to get an apartment. Just one application in the envelope. She wrote on big bold letters that they are to take the whole envelope. But daily she would check and find that people would ignore the writing and take one sheet which she would replace. Very few would take the entire envelope. It doesn't seem to matter what it is, people have gotten lazy or something and just do not read anymore. Maybe it is the internet. Everything is right there for them. Who knows?

We are given the option of supplying our own bags. Plastic bags are no longer allowed in our state. If I don't put bags out, they'll just keep giving me more and more. I already had plenty. So they have to come on to the porch to get the bags and I put the note with the bags.

@jerzgirl Not sure what I would do without the plastic grocery bags. I use them in all my small waste baskets for trash in different rooms. I also use them in other ways. There are places here that will take the used grocery bags for recycle also. I also like paper bags but they are not as sturdy as the plastic ones, and the grocery baggers tend to over fill them so they break. We can buy cloth grocery bags, but those are for taking to the stores. I guess I don't understand how your process works. Here they just bring the groceries in the plastic bags and either leave them at our door, or bring them inside.

My opinion is many service workers like delivery people really don't pay attention to such things. Your request was perfectly reasonable and made sense, yet many either can't be bothered with taking the extra step and time or overlook attention to details. I think this happens in other lines of work too. Especially where customer service is involved.

Common sense should have come in to play here, but did not. Or he may have thought he would be "funny" if he did this spitefully. I hope there is a way to leave him a review.
