Th clock in the photo was a wedding gift my parents received from my mother’s brothers and sisters 72 years ago.
When my parents passed away, I inherited the clock.
It is wound once a week….runs fast for 2 days, keeps time for 3 days and runs slowly for the last 2 days.
The chime cane be particularly annoying when you have company, are watching television or on the telephone.
The chime is comforting the rest of the time. I associate the sound with my childhood.
Sebastian, the teddy bear is our tiny traveller.
He accompanies us when we travel.

For me it was a familiar would from my childhood.. Hubby had trouble adjusting to it at first, but now, most of the time he enjoys listening to the familiar chime.

@Morleyhunt If he is a good husband, he either realizes that he needs to agree with you or he has grown accustomed to it.
I remember when the twins were really young, they would hear the clock chime here and would look all over trying to figure out where that sound was and why they only heard it at Grandpa and Nanny's place.

I enjoy owning this piece of history. They don’t make anything like this for the average person any longer.

Sebastian is a darling. He has been our travel companion since June of 2019. He has travelled many a mile.

He’s been a great travel companion. Also a conversation starter.
He loves to photo bomb.

@Morleyhunt We had one that chimed on the quarter hour. Sometimes (as a child) I would wake in the night and wonder what time it was. Then I would hear the clock chime the quarter. Then the half hour. Then quarter to whatever. Finally it would chime the hour followed by striking the appropriate number of times. So I would have to lie there listening for at least 45 minutes to find out what time I woke up!!

It chime on the hour and half hour. It actually is a very pleasing chime, but at noon, when you are on the phone and it chimes 12 times……

My parents had a clock just like that. I think perhaps the son in Ireland has it now but I'm not sure.
