Now before I tell you what we have gone seven days here without, I want to know what came to YOUR mind first!!??
Last week, while I was at the boutique working, I got a text message from the hubby that the Direct TV box was OUT! My first thought was that he would be driving me crazy since he watches television all day and all night. Me? Not so much. If I am home alone, I turn it on for the background noise mostly.
Hubby has been watching things on his tablet. He downloaded some free programs and has stayed entertained.
He did call and ask Direct if they could send another box out. NOOOOOOOOO! They wanted to send a someone out with a service charge. Now we have have old equipment and did not bother upgrading since the internet is slow here--if you have used HughesNet before, you know what I'm talking about.
The lady on the phone did convince him to set up an appointment for someone to come out and troubleshoot, but the appointment was for early April. When I got home, we talked and decided to go ahead and go buy a new smart TV. We have been waiting for this one to go out. The text is getting blurry at times (depending on how long it has been on), but we were okay with waiting. With the new TV will come new service. But we will first have to switch internet service also.
He finally found a company that will be able to provide streaming, internet and phone service. The total price is actually lower than we are currently paying. We will also be put in queue for faster service when it is available in our area at a nice discount, lower than what we would currently be paying.
Next step is to get this big projection tv out of here and get ready for new television set. Our box will be in Thursday. We will go ahead and switch phone service then or on Friday. We have to go back to Baton Rouge on Thursday, so will probably be Friday. Then we can cancel internet and start streaming!
So all in all, a big WIN for us. Better service and lower price!!
Could you go seven days with no television? I really haven't missed it a whole lot!

I could do without, and I believe hubby could as well if he had enough books. I think you will love the change, though. Smart TV.s have been around long enough that the prices have become reasonable. You may also find you use less electricity. Good move all the way around.

@kareng It's a mind thing for me to have the internet
cause I do so much with it when I'm in my cabin & not
being interrupted or having some 1 looking at what I'm doing.

As I live alone, I watch TV a lot. Every day I watch news. And depending on the mood I also watch other things. I mostly watch Netflix on TV.

@marguicha Lots of things here can be fact checked to see that false information is being broadcasted. A lot of it is coming out of the White House. Very sad situation going on here.

First let me say I do not have a TV. Entertainment comes over the Internet from YouTube and from DVDs and videos, Having said that I have hundreds of videos I bought over the years thinking I would need entertainment so good to have all my favorites. Took them all to Latvia and I can count on my fingers how many videos we actually watched over these years. Now they are with me in Florida and I have one of those TV things that plays videos. Am I watching them for hours? No, I am more focused on what is on the Internet. SIGH Why did I go and toss out so much money buying these? Heaven only knows but ai have them, they still play fine, and one of these days I will give myself a break plop down on the couch pop in a video, and sit here enjoying myself as the hours flow by

Easily. We have two televisions. I can’t actually remember the last time we watched either one. We have no antenna, or cable. We watch
DVD or stream from YouTube.

I had to go several days when my TV tanked and I was waiting for the new one to be delivered. I watched my husband's TV; but I don't care much for what he watches. You will have a new TV and new service....sweet! Enjoy!

Right, just waiting on the box to come in to hook it all up. But we also have to go buy new television set. So much to do this coming weekend. We have the garden down to get it all planted, the rooster needs to meet his maker, and clean up area for new tv and get the old one out of here. That's a lot!!

@LindaOHio We have a television set picked out also. I just hope it doesn't go out of stock by the time we are ready for it. My hubby may go mad if it sells out!!

@kareng That is a lot. I bought my latest TV over the phone. Knew which brand and TV I wanted. It was so much easier.

Good for y'all! Sounds like a great deal. And yes, we did have to use Hughes net until they got internet out here.
I might miss TV a little, but I'd rather read or play on my phone.

I mostly watch shows on my phone, but my husband would be unhappy to not be able to use his smart TV or his computer.
Oh, and I guessed the Internet. Probably because I saw a little of your recent posts.
