Vouchers Received

I wrote a couple of times about some spoiled ham I got from Kroger's Ruler Foods. I wrote them to tell them about the issue and they said they would send some vouchers to compensate me. They did not initially, so I wrote them again to let them know no vouchers had been received. They responded and told me they were sorry I did not "receive them," and they would "send them again." Today I finally received two vouchers from Kroger worth $3 each, or $6. I have set them aside and will use them during my next shopping trip at my local Ruler Foods store. It pays to speak up.

Me too. It's more about the principle than the money. I was glad they came through and made things right.

@porwest - And you are right, when I notice that a discount was not applied I go back to the cashier. It's not only for the money.

@LadyDuck Businesses need to be checked, for sure. If you give them an inch, they WILL take a mile.

@kareng It's kind of crazy, when you think about it. For many of these businesses, the customers are the ONLY reason they exist. It's literally their bread and butter. You'd think they'd make that a top priority.

Why didn’t you just take the spoiled hand back to the store and get a refund?

It does. A well written well intentioned letter is an effective way to receive satisfaction. I've done this with companies like Cable and for hospital bills. Well done!

How long did it take to finally get the vouchers? And why was it $6? Was that how much you had spent on the ham? I remember some time ago I bought capers from lidl. They came in a small glass jar. After eating some I noticed the next day that there was a big broken piece of glass in the jar. I wrote lidl about it on fb. They sent me an envelope so I could mail them that piece of glass, supposedly for further investigation. And they sent me a $25 lidl gift card. Really? They could’ve sent more than that.
