Our Coffee Pot Carafe was Cracked

Tonight I was fixing supper and realized that my coffee pot carafe had a hairline crack. I wasn't happy about this! And I like a couple cups of decaf, with my evening meal.
While I continued to cook our dinner, Jay drove to Wal Mart to buy another carafe. They were out of both the carafe and the 5 cup coffee pot that I'd purchased in their store.
So, my husband ended up buying another brand, a Mr. Coffee. I've had a few of these throughout the years, they are a very nice brand.
I had already put a filter and decaffeinated coffee into the old coffee pot. I was glad to find out, the new carafe fit perfectly! After the coffee finished perking, I just switched over to the new coffee pot.
The oldie is going into the garbage can, first thing Monday morning!

I always keep a spare coffee maker. Always. The idea of not having my coffee is just not a pleasant thought. Keep the old machine for a spare, and shop around for a carafe for it. It still works, it just needs a vessel. Or if you don't want to keep it, donate it somewhere with a note--that it works fine, but needs a glass carafe. Someone might be glad to get it, and it won't be sitting in a landfill somewhere.

Wal Mart should stock up on carafes, but they don't.

Our coffee maker (also a 5 cup) stopped working in the fall. We had to used the 12 cup coffee maker until the new one came from Amazon. O one locally stocked the 5 cup coffee machines.
Then a week later our electric kettle decided it wasn’t going to work either. Our son dropped off a new one the next day.
Enjoy your coffee,

The one on my current coffee maker is metal. The coffee maker will give out before the carafe ever does. I do know I will use it as a thermal server if I ever replace the pot.

I am totally hooked on the coffee makers with the thermal pots. They are the best, the coffee keeps hot and fresh for hours without having that burned taste it can get from sitting in a hot glass carafe on the hot plate thingy.

I always have a second carafe handy just in case. Good thing Jay was able to get a new coffee maker so you could enjoy your evening decaf.
