The winds of change are flowing in the Islamic world and it's a wonderful thing. All credit to Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, who is following in the footsteps of the great Turkish leader Field
Marshall Mustafa Kemal Ataturk( the Great Turk).
In most Islamic countries, there is gender inequality and we know what's happening in Iran and Afghanistan. I will not dwell on it as everybody knows it but there is a big change and now for the first time in the history of the Middle East, a girl from Saudi Arabia will be taking part in the Miss Universe, Competition to be held in Mexico in September this year. Her name is? Rumy Alqahtani, aged 27. This just shows that Saudi Arabia, which is the custodian of the holy shrines is moving forward and leaving the path of obscurantism. I wish Rumi the best of luck in the coming Miss Universe contest and have a feeling she will win some prize at least.

I was wondering when Saudi Arabia would allow women to compete in the Miss Universe beauty contest.
