How often do you cook?

My mom used to cook 2 times a day when we were kids because my dad didn't like the same food for lunch and dinner. I think that's not sustainable for a family, I prefer to cook large portions of food and freeze them for later. For breakfast we have toasted sandwitches on the road, or pancakes which can be frozen too. I cook around 3-4 times a week and then prepare the sides before meal time.
How do you plan your weekly meals? Do you cook every day?

@LadyDuck Yes that's true. I cook a lot of spaghetti too, but usually make a big portion of sauce (bolognese or plain tomato sauce) and freeze it. And then I hust have to boil the pasta and mix together. But yes some meals can only be prepared fresh.

@besweet - I am Italian, there are a lot of meals we cook that cannot be frozen and re-heat. Spaghetti are only good if you prepare them and serve immediately. Some salads need to be prepared and served (tomatoes and mozzarella is an example). A grilled steak the same, or an omelette.
Stews, soups, lasagna those are food you can freeze for later.

Before, I cooked twice a day. We had breakfast outside. Currently, I cook every day. Cook 3 times a day. I like cooking. Furthermore, my husband does not like to eat out and food brought in from outside makes him unwell. Of course, when work is busy, we still eat out.

@besweet It's really a lot of work :) Usually I wake up at 4:45 a.m. to exercise and cook breakfast. I cook often because my family doesn't like eating out and doesn't like processed foods. In return, we often go out to eat or go to parties on weekends, from Friday night!

@tkonlinevn You've got your hands full every day then! We don't eat processed food either, but we have to do meal prep in advance. My daughter eats most of her meals including breakfast at her school and for us I prepare lunch box for work.

I cook almost every day or every other day. What I cook in a typical day is already our lunch and dinner and sometimes till the next day if there are left overs.

I used to cook daily, we typically ate one large meal at night. Since george's return to life after his stroke, I've been letting the microwave do most of the heavey lifting.

Sometimes we just need to give priority to other things, I agree. Microwave meals are fine, as long as you get something to eat.
Many people eat one meal, my husband has the same habit. But he is used to having his lunch as the main meal of the day. So I prep his lunch only and he eats it at work.
If the body gets used to one meal then it's difficult to eat more, if he eats in the evening he cant sleep but he sits on the table with us. I like dinner time bacuse we all sit together and share our news of the day.

I am on my own so mostly I rely on frozen foods to make my meals, I had oatmeal for breakfast today and then later a pork sausage patty and tater tots,

Breakfast is generally just toast or cereal or something on bread, or sometimes pancakes or waffles if we have time.
Lunch in the week only myself and my partner are here and we just make ourselves something. Even at the weekend we usually do something easy like toasted sandwiches or omelettes.
So that just leaves dinner. Often we will cook enough for two days, but then do the same with dessert so one day we will make a main course, the next day a dessert. Of course some things work best prepared fresh, like stir-fries, so we would just do that on the day.
I say 'we' because my partner also cooks so I don't have to cook every day anyway. He's really good at getting something on the table quickly. I'm better at things that take longer (slow-cook recipes are ideal for me!)
I don't know how anyone could cook twice a day unless that was their main occupation.

My meals look exactly the same as yours!
Breakfast is something fast like toast and we eat it on the way, during school days the traffic is the worst, so we need to leave early. You are lucky that your partner cooks.
My mon was staying at home, she quit her job to raise us but still, cooking all day and then having loads of dishwashing is a ot of work.
