Were not ready

That recent Earth Quake in Taiwan really got me scared. Those buildings that lost their balance says it all. But we are not stranger to earth Quake, we just never had been the origin point of it. I mean we already got a house crack since we took down our mango tree. Some Government officials do earth Quake Drills like our neighborhood here. But we easily forget and might end up running when the real thing comes. But you can't do that when there's tons of wires dangling on the post. The only thing I wasn't doing was praying...I have been in a crisis of faith for weeks now.

We should never panic, keeping calm in the dangerous situation is the only way to save ourselves.

Who can really say they're ready for something like that? Each person takes disaster differently. Just because George and I can be calm during a hurricane, doesn't mean it's the same for everyone. With all the support out there, people still clean store shelves prior to storms.

@Letranknight2015 The best thing and the hardest, is to stay calm when they do happen.

Hello @kaylachan Yeah, people are different when it comes to these situations. We actually had an earth quake in some parts of the country, so far we haven't felt it's aftershock.

When we panic, everything seems to move by reflex without thinking about doing it according to what we learn.

Hello @May2k8 I don't want to die in a panic since you loose control on what exactly what to do.

@Letranknight2015 no one is ready for this, especially if a tsunami occurs. We wish the earthquake will subside and people can calm down.

Most of the Taiwanese people were calm while it was happening. They've been trained well with drills. Meanwhile, Phivolcs say our trenches (including Manila trenches) could have a magnitude of 8. God forbid!

It would sadly crushed every structure in the area @almostoveryou specially if your in the fault line.

@Letranknight2015 There's fault line almost everywhere. I hope we get to educate our people more. Our mayor here in Pasig has provided every household a Go Bag in case of disaster. Hoping that buildings can be inspected too for safety and integrity.

Panicking is natural, but it doesn't help. In difficult situations, we do panic but then we have our prior experiences and learning that comes as a reflex action.

I had prior experience with earth quakes @arunima25 but was calm most of the time. Not sure if it's anything like the point 7 or 8.

@Letranknight2015 It's nice to know that you could be calm. I have not experienced any severe natural calamities so far and I just pray that I don't face it in the future too. It was a high magnitude Earthquake in Taiwan. Prayers for the affected people.

The more ingrained things become, the less likely for panic “they” say. And, if a situation arises where you have to adjust, I imagine your mind will give you wisdom from your prior preparation. It it understandable to be apprehensive though.

Hello @AmbiePam That is true, specially if there are gloomy skies. Somehow you have protection over that, just not sure if it's on the ground.

I don't think anyone is ready for an earthquake. I have seen earthquakes only in news and would not want to experience one.

No one can really tell what's in store for us for the coming days. They say "the big one" will hit the Philippines no matter how hard you pray. The only thing we can pray for is that no one will get hurt or least very few. But I am curious that you are having "crisis of faith". Hope you can elaborate more on that.

Drills help you react automatically if it does happen. I hope it never does
