Movies with an intermission.

Ber Hur was way too long for my taste now. I started to think about other long movies that I have watched more than once and I think that I would prefer several others. My truly favorite as long movies go is Gone with the wind. In that movie, in spite of the importance of the main characters, the true center is the Civil War of the US. I first went to see it to a cinema with my mother. It was already very old. And later I took my children and my eldest grandkids. Another long movie I loved was the musical My Fair Lady. Not only the music but the actors were all perfect. Which is your favorite long movie? And when I write this last sentence, Lawrence of Arabia also comes to my mind.

I loved the 2 first Godfathers. The third one was good but not so much. That has been the only movie that is as good as the book.

@LadyDuck Me too. Al Pacino was very important to make Godfather 2 a wonderful film. I think that his change from the "good" boy of the family to the chief of the maffia is perfect.

I saw Ben Hur when I was a child. A thousand years ago. And I have never watched The Bible.

@thislittlepennyearns I think that I did now see anything like that. But I did watch The 10 commandments. I liked Django Unchained as it was. It was probably the most violent movie that I have watched but it was good.

@marguicha it’s either the Bible or New Testament. But same general idea. It also has charlton Heston in it. I thought titanic was rediculously long. And Django Unchained

Same as you, my favorite long movie is Gone With the Wind followed by "The Ten Commandments" (with Charlton Eston and Yul Brynner).

@marguicha I agree and both Charlton Eston and Yul Brynner were great in The Ten Commandments.

My favorite long movie is hard to determine. I like many, including the ones you mentioned. I'm thinking about watching Gone with the Wind again. Definitely a favorite, but I don't know if it's THE favorite. I also like Titanic, another three-hour movie.

With shame I confess that I might be the only person in the world who hasn´t watched Titanic. But I know the story and think that it is too sad.

@marguicha This one isn't as sad as most of them are. Oh, it has the sinking and all that goes with it, but it's what happens after that's different from most. The drama is spectacular. James Carmeron always does well with his movies. I believe it won a few Oscars.

Hmm... I'm not well-versed on old movies, and I think I haven't really seen many movies lately but... How long are those movies with intermissions? Because some of the more recent (by recent I guess I mean last decade or two maybe...) can go for 3 or 4 hours or so... and I don't think they do intermissions anymore, do they? I'm thinking they should certainly have intermissions on long movies. Have to be able to go to the bathroom without missing scenes now.

OH that was a fantastic movie and long yes. I am not sure, there are so many good ones. Maybe Gone With the Wind, though I am tired of that now..

Long movies should have enough action so that we don´t get bored.
