Good Afternoon my fellow myLotters!
I have a question today. who is your favorite comedian(s)? What makes you like them so much? Remember you can share as many as you desire!
I will share my absolute favorite. I will only share one as I could write a book on my favorite comedians as all I watch on TV is the old comedies from the 1950s - 1980s each time I have my TV on!
Jack Benny is my all-time favorite comedian ever. He is on the show called the Jack Benny Program which airs on Antenna TV. I love how he is so cheap on his show, and there are so many jokes about that cheapness worked into the show. I have to do more research into whether that was an act or if he really was extremely cheap.
He also was never older than 39 when somebody asked. Even though he looked older than 39 on his show
there is also his horrible violin playing that is totally out of tune and he thinks he plays so well. But he is the only one
I think I have seen each one as I watch him in repeats of repeats
So, please share your favorite comedian current or past!

@MarieCoyle Robin Williams was very funny! I loved him on Mork and Mindy! I loved when he talked to Orson. Granted, the talk with Orson wasn't funny, the talk had a lot of wisdom

@ambiePam are any of the comedians you mentioned older? I am sorry I don't recognize them. I only know the comedians from the 50s and 60s but like you, for me at any time in history I like clean comedy. I can't understand these comedians with their foul language and dirty acts. I just don't find it in the least bit funny
I do know Robin Williams and loved him on Mork and Mindy.

Jack Benny certainly was a funny man. I still laugh at his being 39.
Jackie Gleason is one of my old time favorites.
These days for stand-up comedians I like Kevin James, Jim Gaffigan and Sébastien Maniscalco.

Yes, Jack Benny not aging past 39 made for a lot of good laughs!
Is Kevin James the man who played the husband of King of Queens? if so, I am a huge fan! I watched each episode at least 3 or 4 times

Jack Benny was funny, but it has been a long time since I have seen the show. I like the current comedian Jim Gaffigan. He talks alot about being a dad, loving fast food etc. He is really pretty funny. He is a clean comic so I always feel comfortable listening to him.

I usually have to watch Jack Benny at 5:30 a.m.
I have heard of Jim Gaffigan but can't place what he looks like. I will look him up.
I love clean comics. That is the reason I only watch old comedies as I abhor dirty comedy and bad words that are so common in comedy these days

I never listened to Richard Pryor so I can't fairly say how I feel about him
But I will take it as truth that Richard Pryor is funny since such a great person says so!

Bob Hope was one of the best! Good Choice! I sadly forgot about him as he doesn't come on the old comedies I watch. That is how I know most of the comedians I like

Then Jack Benny did an excellent job acting as if he was so cheap.
George Burns and Gracie Allen are tied for my second favorite comedians! I loved their good clean humor also. I dislike anything that is dirty or has bad words in comedy
are you able to watch The Jack Benny Program and/or Burns and Allen on TV? I am able to watch them. I watch them on Antenna TV mornings I am awake between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. A good way to start my day with a smile!

@just4him I don't always put on the TV either. I haven't been watching those shows every day lately. I have not been having anything or if I do have something on I have 70s and 80s music on my radio.
I am trying to be on myLot more and read more instead of watching TV. Last night I went to bed with the radio instead of the TV on and I slept so much better!

Mort Sahl is my favorite by far. I like Bill Hicks and George Carlin, but Mort is just so fascinating, funny, and profound. I can watch his stand-up from the 50s, and it's more relevant than a random comedian from today. Interviews, too. I love biting satire, a literate x-ray into society. To the core, I seem to love rebellious people in general, and I feel less lonely when he's saying what is on my mind. I was fortunate to travel thousands of miles to meet my hero a few times, but unfortunately he passed away in 2021.
