Today Was For Me

After a stressful week while my husband had mitral clips inserted into his heart to minimize the leaking of his mitral valve I had a day devoted to me.
It seemed almost selfish, but my mental health is also important.
Sewing and quilting is my happy place. My stress reliever. It calms me.
Today, a date booked months in advance, my sister and I spent the day at our local quilt shop using the Longarm machines to quilt some of our prepared quilts.
I finished three quilts, (two large, one small) as well as two table runners, Meanwhile my sister quilted two large quilts.
It was a relaxing, rejuvenating day.

The stress of the last year have taken a toll. Every day I can get out like this with “no worries” is grateful received and appreciated to the fullest.

Thank you. A lot is not talent, mostly it’s a lot of practice, and being willing to learn how to do things in a way that improves the result, we all would like to just reach this stage in a week, but this has taken 40+ years.

Thank you. I enjoy the process. Many are gifted, a few are sold to help me pay for the supplies and rental to make more quilts.

It was an excellent day. I relaxed, I laughed. I shared with my colleagues some of my stresses. And as a bonus, many projects are now almost complete,

Thank you.
Mental health is important, but keeping myself physically healthy is also necessary.

Times like today are as essential for you, the caregiver, as the medications and medical procedures are to the ill.
I am happy for you that you took that time today to work on something that allows you to feel better.
I love the quilt, would love to see the runner you made, I love runners.

Thank you. I will post more photos as I complete them. This was my largest project of the day.
It was good to get away from everything for a few hours,

Yes, you must take care of yourself first before you can give to others.

You have to take time for yourself. Taking care of my mother myself was really hard.

@morleyhunt It’s good to find time for yourself when life is stressful. I’m glad you succeeded. Your sanity will be required for shouldering burdens.

I know it’s essential to carve some time out for myself. My health will suffer and that would be helpful in any way,

I'm glad you were able to enjoy your day quilting and de-stressing. it is very important for you to take care of yourself while your husband is on the mend. That quilt is gorgeous.

That's great that you got so much done. It sounds a lot to a non-quilter anyway.

It was a lot. It took careful planning and my wonderful boss (when I’m not off on caregiver leave of absence) was my assistant for the day. As I’m also employed here we could accomplish more because much of the work that customers are discouraged from helping with were things I did to speed the process,
