Confusion! And how laziness paid off.

About two weeks ago, when I paid my rent, the lady in the office asked me to move the plants from the periphery of my balcony. But she didn't tell me why.
I talked to Jose and Domingo, the two maintenance guys I've known for more than a decade. They had no clue either.
I had moved most of my succulents near the entrance to my apartment, and waited. Nothing happened.
Yesterday, before work, I almost moved everything back to the balcony, but had an attack of laziness.
Just now (10:30 AM) Jose came by and said I need to remove the rest of my stuff from my balcony, as they're going to paint.
So now I have a project for the rest of the morning.
This feels like a Montana kind of project. Slow and steady. I need some beer to complete it. It's afternoon in Chicago, and it looks like I'm heading to Chicago for a few days next month.
I'll attach a photo of my succulent flowers, which are doing fine near my front door.

You're coming to Chicago? Drive south a bit and you can meet me! haha that would be fun, I wish it could happen. I would be famous, meeting the notorious Horse!

Well, at least you know they're going to paint your balcony.

Our friend lived in a two storey complex of apartments. She was right on the end with no throughway but she got on the wrong side of the body corporate and they made her remove her plants from the balcony on the pretence that is was 'public' space there. I'm glad your lady had a reason.

Mysteries abound. She could have told you why in the first place. Glad to see happy plants.

At least you have time. I'm surprised they didn't know the first time you asked.
