Papa passed away

11 years after my mother's death, I am concerned about my father living alone in the provinces. Every day, I worried about my father's health, but he lived another 7 years before finding someone to care for him. For the past 2-3 years, I felt relieved that he now had a companion who could look after him. However, I was shocked to learn of his death yesterday. He became ill while they were supposed to be at a senior citizens' gathering, and he collapsed and died as a result. There were no signs that this would happen because yesterday was just another day for them. I am sad that this had to happen, but I am relieved that he died quickly and without the complications of surviving and suffering from it all.

All of this came as a shock to those of us who loved him. This had a significant impact on his partner because she was present when it occurred. It was just an ordinary day for them, but things started to happen so quickly that they were caught off guard.

I appreciate it. It was simply unexpected that this would occur so suddenly and without any warning or indication that it would be his last. That is what hurts me to see.

Things happened so quickly that we were all caught off guard. Although living to his age is already a bonus, and I knew it could happen at any time, I was not expecting it to happen so quickly and unexpectedly.

@LadyDuck They may be prepared, but for those who are left behind, there is still a persistent sense of isolation and uncertainty. As we have to deal with it personally, I suppose answers will come.

That’s true his companion is left alone again. I do not know how to console her grieving but I know she has a big family to lean on .

@Hannihar, knowing his partner comes from a large family that will take care of her, I am sure she will be alright. She gave my father a few happy and contented years before he eventually departed us for good, and for that I am incredibly grateful. I regret that their brief relationship ended after only a short while.

That is true what pains me is that we were not ready to let him go that instant. I was taken aback and a bit surprised by what transpired.

I suppose it was quick and short suffering for him, but for those who were unexpectedly surprised and shocked, the pain lingers, and the reasons why this happened remain unknown.
