I am making a mylot comeback and why?

Good afternoon! It hurt being away from myLot, and YouTube but I thought that something would go wrong with my computer if I kept being on it. Long story short I misunderstood how a computer operates. and I do some important things on my computer and need it. I kept googling all kinds of questions related to what was bothering me and became even more anxious as I misread the answers I got. My sister told me on the phone yesterday about the way a computer works instead of just telling me not to worry as she did in the past. And I felt really silly about what I believed after she explained it better Now I can come back to myLot and watch videos on YouTube! I will try my hardest to come on myLot at least for a few minutes but hopefully more daily! Sorry, I wasn't on more today as I went out for one or two hours with my peer as we go out for an hour or so once a week I will be starting more discussions in the future, I really missed all of you! Have you ever thought you knew how something like a computer or something else worked but ended up finding out you were totally wrong? Have a great evening!

I am not going to pretend that I completely understand the anxiety thing, so forgive me for that, please. I have always had to be the strong one, the one everyone counts on, the one who sets the pace.... sure, I worry a lot about certain things (like that does any good!) but I know for certain I don't have anxiety. I have a friend that does, so I have tried hard to read and educate myself about it as much as my brain will absorb. I am always glad to see you post, Jennifer. You are a gem of a lady in every sense of the word, and much loved.

I understand that you are not totally familiar with what it means to have anxiety and I have no problem with that because you try to understand more than a lot of people I know I think there is a big difference between worrying about things as some people do and anxiety in that worrying is uncomfortable for a while for some people but for those of us with severe anxiety, it can be debilitating to do a simple thing. For example, once my sister told me when she took me to my psychiatrist, she told me in front of the doctor that she worries like me. She doesn't understand I can tell how she acts that she may worry but it doesn't take over her life as it does for me. My doctor didn't try to understand You do a super of education yourself on the subject of anxiety- I appreciate it Thank you for calling me a gem of a lady. It made my evening!

@LovesEverybody I can only try. I hope I am never done learning about things that I don't understand or know about. I just do the best I can do. You ARE a gem of a lady. Be proud of yourself, Jennifer! I am thrilled that I made your evening!

@MarieCoyle that is a good thing to want to understand more about what you don't understand. From what I can tell you are doing a great job of trying to understand anxiety. I have one thing I am finally proud of: today I went below a low-budget amount for groceries. I looked for bargains. I was really careful with what I bought and came in $5 under the low budget I set for myself. I would have come under $8 but I splurged on three balls with bells in them for $3.15 for my cat's gift for his upcoming birthday. You ALWAYS make my day!

Browsing the web and watching youtube, are considered lite tasks. I am glad your sister helped you understand how computers work. To avoid other possible health complications, be sure to give your screen a break.

@LovesEverybody Well, being online for hours on end can cause health problems, which is why we have to learn to break away from our screens sometimes. But, no. And if you go down the rabit hole that's a search engine you're going to get squed results.

@kaylachan You are right i need to stop spending so much time on the computer I am going to get off very soon. I want to read some of my library books. I have to stop going down rabbit holes in search engines unless it is an urgent question that I must know the answer to. other than that I will prevent myself from getting anxious by not going down those holes.

I thought browsing the web and YouTube would ruin my computer I looked it up on the Bing search engine and all the results had people discussing how many problems YouTube can cause My sister said they didn't explain thoroughly the question I had about YouTube and what happens while I watch a video. Because I was worried about my computer I wasn't using my computer much until today. But I am trying to not be online for hours and hours. I went to the library yesterday so have new books to read. I also got this week's Woman's World in the mail.

Of course it happened Jennifer, I was sure to know how something worked and I was wrong. I am glad your sister took the time to explain to you how a computer works. Now you can be back with us.

It seems I am wrong a lot of times. The part that upsets me is I worried I would not have my computer for the telehealth therapy I start tomorrow and it was all for nothing. as I contemplated it last night, I realized I have no quality of life worrying so much but can't help it, My sister explained it well and was patient with all my questions. Have a super day!

@LovesEverybody - I think that your sister should spend a little time to explain things to you instead of saying "do not worry". She knows you get anxious, but if you know how things work, you are surely more comfortable.

@LadyDuck I agree 1000% that my sister should explain things first. But as much as I love her I admit that she can be a bit grumpy about things such as that. it does make me feel better and less anxious when I know more about a subject I don't understand that makes me nervous

@just4him I am always frustrated by them. My sister and her husband gave me the computer I am using my sister gave me four or five years ago, it was older when she gave it to me. It is about 13 or 14 years old. I can't afford too many new expensive things like my sister can so I am extremely grateful for things my sister gives me when she gets new ones for herself. She's given me things such as my computer, TV and microwave. The microwave is probably 20+ years old

Yes, my sister explained everything to me. I don't know why she didn't explain it to me a long time ago as I have been worried for almost a year! I wanted to return to mylot and start therapy via telehealth. Now I can do both. I have too made too many more mistakes than I can count. Thank you! I am glad to be back and happy to see you!

@Hannihar I really am glad to see you! I think when my sister assumed when I told her what I was anxious about that I would know why she told me it would be okay. I think she is so busy that she sometimes doesn't think that I don't know all the things she knows.

I can sense your anxiety and your concern about your laptop. At times even I am worried about going to sites that don't appear safe. I fear that they might damage my laptop. Glad that your sister could explain and clear your doubts. Enjoy your myLot time.

Good, glad you are back! I am sure your therapists have discussed this with you, but when you get an idea like this you might want to check it out with someone you trust intially before it takes hold..also maybe ask yourself if it makes sense that some mylotters have been in here day after day for years, and would they be doing it, if it caused damage to their computers?. Some thoughts aren't rational, and we all have them, not just you.

Thank you! I had been asking my sister and she told me it was not possible until yesterday when she finally explained Those are very good ideas. I seem to remember somebody in my care team saying something similar about being rational. I get so much anxiety that I don't know what to think. I haven't been in therapy for over a year so I couldn't really discuss it with her, BUT I start a telehealth therapy on Friday morning and plan on sticking with it this time. this therapist specializes in anxiety. I am so excited! Thank you for the advice!

@Marilynda1225 I cried, I had tears in my eyes, and I laughed throughout the book and had goosebumps at how sweet some scenes were. Then there were times I cheered with what happened I also wanted to scream at some of the characters I was so frustrated with them! Have a great day!

I am in the same place as you with computers. I have gotten back into getting into books from the library recently and can't wait to talk to you about them! I don't have time today as I have to be in bed soon as I have to get up very early tomorrow. But I am going to try to write something about a library book I finished on Wednesday that was one of the best books I have ever read. I will try to write something about more books than the book that I mentioned! Have a great day!

Glad you are back. I had a doctor appointment on the 24th and I had to get my blood drawn. I got the results and started looking up some of the results I had. I got scared and told my mother. But my doctor's office called and told me that the results were okay. But I am a little concerned about the results. But to answer your question, yes. I was going to switch Medicaid health plans, but my cousin explained some of the health benefits and I think I might be staying on the health plan instead of switching.

I always look up my blood test results as I get it taken every six months and always get nervous then I see my doctor in a few weeks and I am fine. I have Medicare but my sister and case manager help me with mine. my mind is too muddled to know what is going on. I don't understand things like that I think my plan is pretty good. Can you change it I was told if I wanted to change mine I had to do it by I think sometime in December of last year. I hope you choose the best health plan!

@LovesEverybody What I meant was when I get anxious, I recollect my thoughts to get over the issue that bothers me. I look around and surmise nothing is so serious to spell the end of the world. Being calm helps me to assess the situation and find a solution. I agree some anxieties are due to chemical imbalances that require medicines to calm us down. I hope you have analyzed your issue and found out the real reason for your anxiety.

Thank you! I already feel happy being here on myLot! What do you mean by getting into your comfort zone and how does one get into one? I would have a hard time ignoring my anxiety as it is such a part of my life. I don't know what it feels like to not be anxious. I have been like this for over 45 years

Luckily for me, my sister has many years of experience using computers with her job (she works mostly from home) and is in human resources so has to use a computer daily. then her husband works on computers as he has a computer degree and can explain it correctly when things get desperate with me.
