The first week of art class again.

It was the first week of art class today. The taxi came to take me at 1:25pm. He was an English guy who took me to the art class. When I got to the hall I went to the toilet, then I had a cup of tea. I gave Lee the painting of the dog that I did for her, and she loved it. Everyone else came and had a look at it too, and they loved it. Lee said I'd really got her eyes right! She says she's going to hang it on her wall. The picture shows what we were doing today. We were using the grid method, as you can see on the picture. We drew out the grid on the reference photo and each square measures 5cm × 5cm, and we drew another grid on our drawing paper and each square measures 7cm × 7cm. Then we proceeded to draw out the falcon on the large drawing paper doing one square at a time. We had a viewfinder to put over each square so we could concentrate on one square at a time. I got the eye too big and too round at first, and I had to rub it out and start again. I had a hard time with the beak too, but I got it eventually. Then we were told to "lay a ground" meaning colour in the dark areas. Then we got a piece of cotton wool to blend it in. It is still a work in progress, and I will finish it off at home. A big bumble bee buzzed passed me and made me jump and scream! It went under the pool table and someone coaxed it out the back door! But after that when a fly buzzed passed me I was jumping at all of them! I said the bee had made me jumpy! At about 4:50pm we went and put our pictures on the floor so everyone could see them and we could get some feedback. Then we were told we were doing urban sketching next week. I went out to see if my taxi had come but I couldn't see it. One of the ladies came out and I said I don't know if my taxis come. As she was going to her car she looked to see if the taxi was there. She came back in her car. She said she couldn't help me, but maybe one of the others would let me borrow their phone. So I went back in and told them my taxi hadn't come. So Sue phoned the taxi place for me and told them that I'd booked a taxi that hadn't come, so they said they would send one. Sue brought out a chair for me to sit on while I was waiting. The taxi arrived at 5:25pm, and I didn't get home till 5:40pm. My Mum was wondering where I'd got to! I told my Mum all about it. I showed her what I'd been doing. Then I had my dinner and watched some telly. Now I'm going to get on with some more painting! What have you lot been getting up to today? I hope you are all well. Have a good evening.
