And, we're back.

I'd say the trip was a success. When we got home, George said he felt useless because some things are still a struggle. Now, I'm not suggesting that he get out of the house, daily... but I think we need to get out a little more. I'm hoping being cleared to drive, will help lift his spirts. He is used to doing so much, but he got a lot taken from him with the stroke. So, naturally I have concerns about the toll it's taken on his mental health. I keep trying to get him to shower, but I also see where he's making more progress. He's woken up dry a time or two, he's had moments where he's asked me for food. so there are improvments.
He's drinking daily, even gets his own drinks (no alchol), so there's that. A lot of good I'm seeing. Like his desire to switch clothes. It's just hard to watch sometimes.

You are a strong and wonderful person. But you must take care of yourself too.

Don't worry, I do. George does so much on his own. We're almost back to our normal routines.

It takes a long time, but with care and determination he will get better.

I know it does. His doctors tell me the vast majority of his healing is going to happen within the first year. That if the neros are going to rerout themselves the first year is when it happens, then by the second, you're pretty much where you're going to be.

I’m not suggesting being a caregiver is harder than being a stroke victim, but the emotional toll is so incredibly strenuous. You’re responsible for those improvements he’s shown too, although George should also be pretty proud of himself. You make a tough pair, and I imagine the improvements, however small, will continue.

He's very strong-willed. And, he finds some everyday things hard. However, we get through it.

@just4him George and I hate it, but at least we know he's sharp as a tack and loves to back seat drive.

No, I wish. We're still struggling with that. But, we did take an uber to the store yesterday.

@kaylachan I'm sorry it's still a struggle. I'm glad you could take an Uber to the store.

Baby steps. My husband is taking baby steps too. I'm hoping he will come home this month. I hope George continues to improve as well. It sounds like he is. Have a good day.

Lots of patience is needed but good that there is some progress. Perhaps it might help if George decided each day on some things he wanted to do and then see how he progresses in doing them,

He's started doing things on his own. His ability to make an x"x" is much improved.

Yeah, I know. I keep telling him he needs to make the effort. The more he tries the better it'll be.
