I'm down in Oregon for the month and last night was quite the show. Some in the park had no idea the lights would show and when they saw several of us out aiming our cameras at the sky, they were curious what all the fuss was.
A nice couple next to me were so excited and ran back in to get their phones.
The aurora borealis was on my bucket list and now can check it off though I still would like to go to Alaska and see it there.
It's back tonight so I'm getting ready to head out. I'm sleepy but this is a once in a lifetime for me.
Will you be going out tonight or did you capture photos last night?
Photo is mine from last night. Albany, Oregon

What an incredible experience to witness the aurora borealis! It's amazing how nature can surprise us with such breathtaking displays, even in unexpected places like Oregon. Sharing the excitement with others who may not have been aware of the phenomenon must have added to the magic of the moment.
It's wonderful that you're able to check off this item from your bucket list, but there's nothing wrong with wanting to see it again in a different location like Alaska. Each viewing offers a unique perspective and can be equally awe-inspiring.
Enjoy your time under the dancing lights of the aurora borealis tonight, and may it be another unforgettable experience for you. Safe travels and happy sky-gazing!

Thank you! My oldest daughter and family are here in the park too and we are going to head out shortly. From what I noticed last night, the lights danced more after 11pm and peaked near 1:30am. I'm not sure I can handle that long tonight after a long day but going to go out again for a little while.

@noni1959 It sounds like you and your family are in for another magical night of aurora borealis viewing! Even if you can't stay out as late as last night, I'm sure any time spent under the dancing lights of the aurora will be memorable and awe-inspiring.
It's wonderful that you can share this experience with your oldest daughter and her family. Moments like these create lasting memories and strengthen bonds between loved ones.
Enjoy your time together, and may you all be treated to another spectacular display of nature's beauty tonight. Safe travels and happy sky-gazing!

@annierose Thank you for the kind words. I'm going to grab a light jacket as it's cooled off quite a bit and go out to sit and watch. Enjoy your day ahead!

@TheHorse From what my son told me (he dabs in photography) the phone lens can see more light than we can with our own eyes. That take longer exposures and the newer phones like mine have the night mode though I didn't use my setting. I wish I did after seeing photos taken by others.

What a wonderful picture!
I watched last night and tonight as well. Last night was a bit more showy, and tonight the lights were farther apart, but I did enjoy it very much. I take terrible pictures at night, so I didn't try! I've just been enjoying everyone else's, so thank you for posting your picture.

I have several good memories of seeing the Northern Lights years ago. They truly are beautiful.

What a magical experience! It's incredible how something as awe-inspiring as the aurora borealis can bring people together, sparking curiosity and excitement among strangers in the park.
