Pickle Fest

Today was National Dill Pickle Day, and we decided at work to make a big dill out of it (see what I did there!). So we had a Pickle Fest, and people brought in just about anything they could find that was pickle related. We had quite a sampling of pickle flavored snacks: peanuts, almonds, cashews, chips, okra, asparagus, jelly beans, cotton candy, freeze pops, popcorn, beef jerky and more. All pickle flavored.
And yes, we really did have pickle flavored cotton candy and freeze pops!
Are you a fan of dill pickles? Or anything pickle flavored? My favorite out of everything was the spicy dill pickle asparagus. I practically ate the whole jar!

I don't mind pickles. But don't want other things flavored that way

@wolfgirl569 I’ll tolerate pickled beets, but it’s not anything I’ll go out of my way to eat.

Most of the items were actually pretty good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy pickle flavored cotton candy, but it wasn’t horrible. Probably the only thing I didn’t like were the pickled beets, but that’s just because I’m not a fan of beets.

My family likes pickles. I enjoy both dill and I like bread and butter pickles, too. I don't really want to try many of the items you mentioned, like cotton candy, freezer pops, and beef jerky, but hey...you do you, Jeff!

I didn’t think I would like most of the stuff either, but surprisingly it was all pretty good. I’ll sample anything once just to see how it tastes, even if it’s not appealing to me.

@MarieCoyle I tried it for the sake of trying it, but it is something I would pass on if I saw it in a store. Definitely not something I would go out of my way to buy.

I am open to trying new foods, but the idea of pickle flavored cotton candy does nothing for me!

You should try searching online for pickles you like. And Publix is now starting to offer a pretty good variety of pickles if you have a chance to check it out.

Haven't tried pickles before considering that it's not sold in our country, but I'm always curious about what it taste like since I've seen a lot of people in movies love eating pickles.
Sounds like your going to have a blast with today's Pickle Fest.
Have fun!

I know right! I’m a fan of dill pickles too, and was actually excited about this event. But I thought we were going to just st sample a bunch of different pickles. I had no idea on the amount of variety on pickle flavored products!

@moffittjc I like pickled beets. However, I am not much of a fan of regular beets. I do like borscht though. and if raw beets are diced they are OK. I hate canned beets. Another veggie I am not keen on is radishes. They have to be pretty thinly sliced for me to eat at all.

I eat pickles all the time, and I also drink the pickle juice in the jar after all the pickles are gone. It's good for helping with muscle cramps. I get a lot of cramps when I play in paintball tournaments, because we are running around like crazy on the field and sweating out liquids as fast as we can put them in.

@porwest I don't think so at all. I love the taste of pickle juice. My left leg was cramping last night while I was trying to sleep, so this morning I guzzled down some pickle juice with my breakfast.

It's funny how dill pickles all of a sudden became a fad!!
I guess pickle shots was out of the question at work
I was noticing the other day in the grocery store that a big jar of pickles is now almost $8! I can remember when that big jar was only $3 plus some change!

@kareng The problem is that I don’t really have space in the fridge for a jar that big.

I love pickles but I prefer those in brine instead of the vinegar ones. The vinegar is sometimes too much.
I’m tempted to try pickle lemonade. I follow an IG profile of a little kid who regularly posts cooking videos and and he had a video up today making pickle lemonade. Liquid from the pickles was used when making the lemonade. And I think he even garnished it with a pickled wedge lol.

I don’t know if I’ve seen pickles that are in brine versus vinegar. Do the name brands (Mt Olive, Vlassic) sell brine pickles?

@moffittjc I have no idea. I buy pickles at the Russian store where you pick them from a tray yourself and place into a container. Those are in brine. They sell sour ones and half sour ones.
