Mild Anxiety

After I took the Philippine Bar Exams for the first time, I have been having trouble sleeping. When I'm asleep, I was never fully asleep. I always feel like I need to run or do something or else I'm going to end up losing something. I was always irritable, and tried my best to feel normal. Unfortunately, there are some days that I end up crying for no reason at all. My mom got so concerned that she made me go for a general check. The results showed that I was physically healthy. However, mentally I wasn't. The doctor found out that I was suffering from mild anxiety and panic attacks. She prescribed some medicines for me. I only took a few, and never finished them all. I decided to get treated by reading self-help books. Fortunately, they were effective. I didn't have to go see a psychologist or therapist. Even though everything is all good and well for me now. I do hope and pray that it won't resurface.

It could, but you have to remember asking for help if you need it isn't a sign of weakness and some anxiety is normal.

I do learned that the hard way. I was always living my life as the helper and the pleaser, and never the one being helped and pleased. One day when I wasn't feeling very for such a long time, someone finally snapped and got me to talk to them all. It was difficult to do, but it greatly helped. I'm grateful for that person, and that person is my partner.

@HaruLoid Sometimes that's how it happens. And, there's no shame in that. Just remember, keep talking. Make sure people know how you feel.

@kaylachan I do talk but there are times that it feels like I become a great burden to them.

I imagine that preparing for such an exam would be mentally tough. Maybe you need some relaxing now.

It was very tough. All the sleepless nights, the overthinking, the loud noise that goes on and off in your head telling you that you can't do it. I was tough.

I do believe that everyone can overcome anything, but sometimes it takes a whole village for you to be able to overcome it.

I am sure that preparing for the Bar Exams was stressful and the stress affected your body. I would avoid medications.

@HaruLoid - In my opinion you need a little time to slow down in order to be more in control of your anxiety.

It was very stressful. It broke me so bad that people actually noticed a great change on how I think and feel about everything.

@LadyDuck I'm able to take things slowly at present, but sometimes someone just likes to pressure me about my every move.

With a stronger inner strength, perhaps you can overcome it

Sometimes inner strength is not just enough. I had to shut myself from all the noise in order to be able to collect myself. Exercise and meditation helped a lot.

@HaruLoid you realised that on time. i was for year or two on them, then stopped and came back to them again. it took me a lot of years to really get off them; i wish i did it sooner but i thought they were helping me.

@grenery8 It can't be denied that the pills can actually really help us. It's just that, in my case, never liked relying on medication. I always somewhat doubt them to the point I become very observant to any changes that occur to my health.

The pills helped me when I just started them. I stopped when I noticed how pills can give you brain fog, and how it can have you get addicted to it since it's something that helps a person feel better. Surely, you can overcome it the same as I did. Although there are days when I can feel it resurface, but I always immediately fight it back by reading a book, playing a game or anything that can make me feel busy and not make me be able to think or feel it.

That is true. We have to help ourselves if we want to be helped.

I will include you in my prayers. Perhaps, you are exhausted. I have trouble sleeping for as long as I can remember. But these past two years were terrible. I was bullied by fellow pinays here in Korea. Yes, even adults can be bullied. These women are younger than I am. It took a toll on my health. At the beginning of 2024, I swore to let this feeling go and forgive them. But I am still full of resentment. But, unlike before, I do not see them in my dreams anymore. However, my blood still boils whenever I remember them.

Thank you for including me in your prayers. Truly, it was exhausting. Studying all day and all night while battling for your own sanity was just too much for a person like me to handle back then. I'm sorry that there are people bullying you. I'm sure karma will give them the things that they deserve. Karma has always been scary as they hit the people and the things that are precious to that person. I will also pray for you, dear. No one deserves to be treated badly.

I have the same problem. However, I have severe panic attacks and chronic anxiety. In the beginning self-help books helped me a lot.

@HaruLoid Yes. But I can't tolerate it. I tried almost every pill and my body has severe side effects.

@dya80dya That's understandable. Some pills can take a toll on our physical health. I know some people who ended up having high uric acid because of some pills.

I'm sorry that you're having a severe one, and I do find it great that some self-help books are able to help. Are you currently in medication?
