I have been jealous

Hubby's cousin who lives in Michigan lives on a lake. He puts out three hummingbird feeders and they buzz around there all day. It looks like hundreds of them.
I know we have them occasionally. Where I lived before we did not.
This year I bought an inexpensive hummingbird feeder. I made a little nectar to put in it, and still had not seen a hummingbird. However, last night I noticed the liquid was almost gone.
A bit ago I went outside and sat for a few minutes, and was rewarded by a visitor. I believe it was a variety known as the black chinstrap hummingbird. It was a smaller than usual variety, and it had a dark head.
I have just boiled water to refill the feeder.
Keep the little guys coming.

I hope so as well. I think the same birds come back year to year. The hummingbirds often come when I have daylilies and trumpet vine in bloom.

That would really be something to see. There are so many different colors.

I have seen more at this house than I ever did at my other one. Did you know they will gang up on larger birds?

@GardenGerty no, I had no idea they would gang up on bigger birds. Surprisingly since they are so little

We have several bird feeders in our garden ...although just every day birds visit us. We do think that a squirrel may be visiting as well though as a bird feeder is often to be found knocked to the ground.

I have seen stories about all kinds of large creatures visiting the seed bird feeders. Like bear, and moose, and even horses.

I find myself wondering if butterflies use this kind of feeder too. We have had lots of butterflies this year.

It was. Bob has said we had one visiting regularly, but I had not seen him.

I haven´t seen a hummingbird near my house for ages. I was visited be some decades ago at a house I had where I had planted an hibiscus.

Oooh, I was wanting to get a hibiscus, but was not sure where I would put it.

Bob's cousin has swarms of them. This is incentive to me to get the birdbaths filled more consistently as well.
