Oh my, we're heading for the longest day

My spring flowers so far

I created a collage of all the spring flowers I get, most will dry up after June but the Hollyhock will get new blooms as the summer progresses. Here in the northern hemisphere we'll experience the longest day around June 20 then the next day it will be a somewhat shorter day, I really don't like short days but hey, it is what it is I found an interesting video that explains the difference tween solstice and equinox, some of this I had no clue about, how about you?

I've known the meaning of both. However, you can find almost anything on Youtube. I don't like to think about the days getting shorter. But, I'm thankful for what I do have.

Ohhh, so beautiful ! I somehow don't mind the changes (maybe because it's gradual), but what I don't like are the darn twice a year time changes - now THAT throws me off .

Maybe if more people banded together we could get rid of all that time change garbage

I knew exactly what both are, my husband explained the difference to me many years ago. Summer solstice will be June 20th here, around 10:50 pm.

@rebelann I seem to just feel better when it doesn't get dark so early. I hate the long winter months when it's dark before 5pm

I hope they'll grow but I read that most hollyhocks won't bloom in the first year.

Such pretty flowers. We still have plenty of daylight during the summer months, I usually don't begin to notice the days getting shorter until September.

I never used to but since I've retired and started really using the internet I've become so much more aware of it. Ignorance can be bliss sometimes.

Very lovely flowers, I know it is the summer solstice coming. In Latvia, we celebrated it as Midsummer's and the shortest night was from June 23 to June 24 Nice memories of celebrations for me, Thanks for the link it was interesting,

Thank you Oh wow, I've heard of midsummer but I thought it was only a poem by Shakespeare or something like that

@rebelann they are popular in other European countries too, This is from the Internet The midsummer celebration in Latvia is called either “Ligo” or “Jani”1. Ligo is celebrated on 23rd June, which is the midsummer night, while Jani is celebrated on the following day, 24th June21. The former name reminds of the pagan solstice traditions that are very much alive today1.

My friend had a hollyhock come up in her garden quite by chance. It's very pretty. You have some nice flowers in the collage.

I think the orange one might be a type of wild hollyhock but I'm not sure. Thank you, at least I have a few flowers.

I knew there was a reason to rejoice! More daylight time I'll leave the solstice and equinox explanations to the scientists.

I don't like shorter days as well. I'm only able to do a few things done when days are short. Time just flies so fast on those days, makes me feel inadequate sometimes.
